Thought I’d start making the sodalite ‘Speak Truth to Power’ bracelets on this steamy day and realized how out of practice I am. 😔 And that a knot between each bead makes taking your mistakes apart fun. Not! 😩 But practice makes perfect, so back to it. 💙

It feels good to be back in the studio! Taking apart some of my vintage and salvage pieces to restock my supplies. I find this relaxing and it fuels my creativity. 🩵

I shut down my shop and studio after my husband passed in 2022. Unable to face it, like so many other things, I just started piling things up in the room and shutting the door. Enough is enough! I’ve spent the last week clearing it out and reorganizing everything. Now let the creative juices flow!!

A nicely done article on lowcountry dolphins and the learned behavior of strand feeding. I certainly do miss doing the dolphin programs on Broad Creek.

Dolphins display this feeding strategy in a few places and one of them is the coastal waters of South Carolina. “It’s one of the coolest things I think you can see.”

The condo on the island has sold, and I owe so many thanks to my wonderful in-laws for everything they’ve done to help me with this m, and honestly, just life over the past two years.
I wanted to send them something special for our time honored “cocktail hour”, and outdid themselves in this perfectly curated collection of adult beverages and tasty treats. They even shopped another local place for me to add the flowers too! It makes my heart sing. ❤️

I am remodeling my kitchen, but kept the chandelier, and the cabinet k***s and handles. My late husband, Ben, gave me this chandelier many years ago, and we picked hardware that mimicked the vines and leaves.
I was able to find a fixture for over the island that had the vines, leaves, and crystals, but couldn’t find one for over the sink that I liked, so I made one. YaY!
I bought a light kit and strung my own crystals and leaves. The crystals and brass leaves were repurposed from vintage jewelry, the small leaves, all 60 of them, are red in leaves that I hand painted to coordinate.
I love all the fixtures, and am especially pleased with the crystal sparkle and cast shadows of my hand created light.

Some estate sale makeovers. The solid oak (read heavy) Brtoyhill console table was $20 and the little oak corner shelf was $3.
The console was painted in Sherwin Williams Shoji White, and that alone made a world of difference inundating it. The top was sanded to remove the shiny finish and smooth out the horrible water rings. Two coats of Ild English scratch fuller for light wood and a good buffing gave me a result I was happy with. This is destined for my bedroom under the wall mounted TV, with large woven rope baskets on the bottom shelf to serve as laundry hampers.
The little corner shelf was VERY thirsty. I probably should have used a conditionpoul, but using what I had, I gave it to coats of the Ild English, followed by two coats of Johnson paste wax. A good buffing and I wad pleased with this one. This is destined for my bathroom to hold plants and pretty things.

Loving how the collection of art, and found, thrifted, and repurposed objects is coming together in my powder room.
I just added the tray to the toilet top, so the grouping there needs some work. The tray started life as an unfinished wood piece that I thrifted. originally tried painting it a soft silver to play off all the metal finishes in the room, but that was a flop. So I went a completely different direction with decoupage, pulling from my large collection of art papers, the whole case of them also coming from a thrift store.
Call it a win this time, I’m really pleased with it.

I got this lovely mixed media piece at an estate sale for an unbelievable $2. This is destined for my newly remodeled master bath, and the only re-creating I’m doing is to give the hand painted frame a light gold wash to tie into other features in the room.

Finding the online estate sales has been the coolest thing. I picked up this haul yesterday, most of which was only a buck or three, which is less than Goodwill pricing.
This woman had been a collector, with most pieces having her handwritten notes, or even the purchase info included. I’m gonna have to reorganize my personal jewelry storage because I’ll be keeping a bunch of these for myself. 🙄🤣
But lots of rainy day busy work sorting this into what I keep, what I resell, and what gets deconstructed to re-create. 😊❤️
