My quilt “Audrey and Max Discover Undersea Wonders” was accepted into the International Quilt Show in Houston! I found out the same week I found out I had breast cancer. Fortunately, my doctors scheduled my treatments so that I could attend the show in early October! My twin sister, Bobbie and my amazing cousins from New Orleans, Jody and Liz were able to be there with me! And of course my wonderful husband Kent was there, who supports me in every way possible!! 🩷

I call this quilt 1983 because that’s when I started it! I was pregnant with my son, Brandon, who just turned 42. The blocks are all hand pieced and I used to say, “I’ll be lucky to finish this by the time I turn 90,” and I was starting to feel a little pressure! So I dedicate this to all my customers who think their 10 year old quilt project is embarrassing! ☺️

My “Audrey and Max Discover Undersea Wonders” quilt did very well at our guild’s show last weekend! I couldn’t be more thrilled! It’s a collage quilt taken from a photograph that my daughter Emily took at The Living Coast exhibit at Brookfield Zoo in 2022. I received a first place ribbon in the art quilt category and the Judge’s Choice Award!!

Prairie Star Quilt Guild is having our show next weekend! I will have 3 of my own quilts plus many I have quilted for others in the show! There will be lots of display quilts, raffles, vendors, and food!! I hope you can make it!

A few weeks ago was the Madison, WI quilt show and I’m excited to say that I entered 3 quilts and all 3 were accepted! I really didn’t expect to win any ribbons because there are some amazing quilters in this show, but my “My Inspirations” quilt got a lot of attention! My sweet husband said my ribbons must have fallen off! 😄 The other two quilts are, “Farm Girl Vintage” and “Little House on the Prairie.”

One highlight of my summer was going to the Quilt Walk at Angela Walters’ shop, Quilting is My Therapy. I also attended the dinner and her trunk show and two days of classes in her new longarm education center. Angela is amazing and I owe much of my quilting skills to her! (These beautiful quilts are Angela’s - mine are the two unfinished samples that I did in her class.)

The International Quilt show in Paducah, KY this past April was wonderful! It’s amazing to see what some of these quilter accomplish!

Working on this patriotic quilt for the Community Crisis Center in Elgin. I found the beautiful Liberty Bell panel at Happy Valley Mercantile on Etsy. I’m also using some leftover fabric from my dad’s (Mickey Bouvier) and my brother’s (Mike Bouvier) Quilts of Valor. It will be sold in their silent auction.
