John Cole is the man behind these wonderful creations. He’s been doing this for 25 years, so he knows his stuff. John also loves to paint and weave, so hopefully in the future we’ll be blessed to see those creations in the shop, as well, one Makers Market weekend.

Bummer.

We are sad to announce that after 40 years the Knoxville location of McKay’s is closing. Our last day of business will be Sunday, May 3, 2026.

It has been an honor to be part of the Knoxville community for the last four decades. If you bought, sold, or traded with us, you helped keep books and media on the shelves of people who appreciate it, and we are so thankful for your support! Please come see us before we close to find a good book and say goodbye.

Starting February 26, 2026 the Knoxville store will no longer accept incoming items. If you need to pick up payment for a previously submitted order, please go to the register (not the Greeter counter).

Returns will be accepted at the Knoxville store through its last day of business. After that date, all sales are final and refunds will not be issued.

McKay’s Trade credit and gift cards can be used at the Knoxville location through its last day of business; Trade credit and gift cards from Knoxville may be used at our other locations in Tennessee (Chattanooga & Nashville) and North Carolina (Winston-Salem and Mebane).
