The jacket is what happens when Sam Hunter .embroidered.journey introduces you to Paris, Rebecca shows you the joy of silk threads and helps up your embroidery game, and then Bethanne Nemesh .whitearbor shows you that a jacket can be just another art supply. Wow! It was just last Monday that I listened to the Witches of Scotland episode of Haptic and Hue. And now (thanks to Portobello Bookshop and some postal magic) my book is here... all the way from Edinburgh. Guess I have a little "light" reading for a few days. I'm looking forward to this.

Some days you just need to play in a different sandbox. I saw an ad for a workshop on drawing animals from medieval manuscripts on IG. I have a soft spot for the middle ages (see Unicorn). My squirrel brain said "why not?" So this is the result... should I have been doing something else? Yep... Did I have fun? Bigger YEP. So here's to giving in to the squirrels now and then. Thank you to Julia for a great introduction to drawing medieval creatures.

So the first challenge for is Mythical creatures. How could I resist? I used one of my favorite unicorns for the design, carved a block to print the fabric and made a zippy bag. I didn't get to do much of (thank you kidney infection) so took this as an opportunity to try out a new technique or two. The bag pattern àis my go to staple "Becca bag" by Lazy Girl designs. But the pattern printed on the fabric is all mine!

Today was my only full day in Paris. Did LOTS of stuff. Sam Hunter of Embroidered Journey let me tag along at a couple things. If you want to see the textile side of Paris or London and get excellent care while you are there... check out Sam's tours... but don't take my spot!

Small victories... I have been trying to get labels on this display for AGES. Today was the day while I waited for a customer. And yes, I did put the threads in numerical order... I am THAT nerd. 😉

The Blueberry quilt is DONE! The weather didn't cooperate for outside photos, so these were taken in the barn. Wind and rain are not the friends of a quilt with that much white area.
Chris Guy did an amazing job on the hand embroidered berry wreaths. And she is not only good, but fast too.
I am inordinately proud of how flat and square this came out. The mariner's compass rulers by and drunkards path rulers by made everything so accurate. If you aren't familiar with these, go check them out. They will really up your quilting game.
And now we return to our regularly scheduled quilting...
