Everything we know about The Fall-Off:
J. Cole's highly anticipated album The Fall-Off is indeed a double album, scheduled for release on February 6, 2026. Cole confirmed that the project expanded into a double-disc format after he was "incredibly re-inspired" by major events from two years ago—specifically the high-profile rap landscape shifts and feuds of 2024.
The Double Album Structure
The project consists of 24 tracks divided into two distinct halves that reflect different stages of Cole's life:
Disc 29: Focuses on Cole at age 29, documenting his return to his hometown of Fayetteville, North Carolina, a decade after moving to New York. It explores a "crossroads" he faced between his woman, his craft, and his city.
Disc 39: Captures his mindset a decade later as a 39-year-old man who is "older and a little closer to peace".
Inspiration from "2 Years Ago" (2024)
Cole explicitly noted that the events of 2024, which "still feed the algorithm to this day," served as the creative catalyst for the album's expansion. This timeframe correlates with his brief involvement and subsequent apology during the Kendrick Lamar and Drake feud, an event he referenced as a moment where he felt he was "moving incorrect" by giving in to negativity. This period of reflection led the album to "slowly blossom into a double disc" as the concept grew more complex.
