Hen Picked Antiques & Stained Glass

Hen Picked Antiques & Stained Glass Located in a historic 1853 church, Hen Picked Antiques features an eclectic mix of antiques, collectibles, gifts & gently used home & garden decor.

We also repair stained glass and carry a full line of stained glass supplies. Customer parking lot in back. We are Hen Picked Antiques, a husband-and-wife team who love to hunt for antique and vintage items to sell in our shop. We were bitten hard by the antique bug in 1993 after we purchased an old farmstead in Erin and began restoration on the farmhouse, which was built around 1906. The purchase

led to an interest in antique and historical items which soon grew into a passion. After dabbling in selling our wares at an outdoor flea market for several years, we decided to move the sale to the farmstead in 2001. We had been brainstorming for several years on how to make the barn sales a year around event when some properties became available in Hartford. We toured a couple properties but decided they were a bit too ambitious of a project for us. Bob kept thinking about the church and said "too bad you didn't like it." After reminding him that I hadn't seen it, we set up a meeting with the realtor and I immediately fell in love with
it's beautiful architecture and stained glass windows. On March 31, 2016, we became the proud new owners of the former First Congregational Church building on the corner of Branch and Church Streets. Built in 1853, it is one of the oldest churches in Washington County and we are only the second owners in 164 years! We feature an eclectic mix of antique, vintage and gently used newer items for your home, as well as items for your garden. We also offer stained glass classes as well as stained glass supplies and repairs.

Back to catching up with The Wisconsin Explorer as they toured Hartford. I'm sharing the stops they made mostly in the order they were posted so it might take a few more days before I share their visit to Hen Picked...stay tuned!
This is a business I did not know about. Massages are awesome but it's not something I normally treat myself to. It looks like a wonderful relaxing place to go though-maybe I'll have to try it sometime! Oh...and I think I'm spotting some beautiful fused glass pieces in the pictures. Obviously someone else shares my obsession with all things glass!

We had a fun group of ladies for our Garden Stake Workshop yesterday! My favorite thing about these is seeing how each student puts their own creative spin on them with the use of different glass colors and textures and glass nugget designs. Each one is a unique piece of art. Of course, Tom, the shop cat, had to get in on all the action and hang out with the ladies!
Next workshops:
Sunday, August 23rd 1-3pm Fused Glass Monarch Candle Cup
Sunday, August 30th 12-4pm Kaleidoscope Wind Chime

I'm going to have to share more than once a day if I want to keep up with The Wisconsin Explorer! They've had a busy week in Hartford. Here's a hidden gem I did not know about. I definitely need to check out one of their seasonal markets!

I can't keep up with these ladies! I thought I would share a video a day of the places they stopped in Hartford. They're posting multiple videos and pictures a day so I'm way behind...I'll catch up...eventually! Here's a shout out to Grand-Dad's Bakery, one of our favorite places. It's right inside Scoop DeVille....because whoever thought of combining ice cream and bakery inside one building was brilliant!

Check out the pictures from when The Wisconsin Explorer stopped at Flower Cafe Hartford. If you haven't ever stopped there, you should! It's an adorable little coffee shop filled with my favorite thing-Flowers (second only to stained glass, of course)!

Welcome to Hartford The Wisconsin Explorer! Follow along this week as they show you all the wonderful things Hartford has to offer! Melissa and Brittany will be joining us on Friday and we're excited to show them around the glass shop but stay tuned all week. I will be sharing their posts and I bet there will be a few hidden gems I didn't even know about!

As I’ve been reflecting on this year, I keep coming back to one thing: gratitude.

If you would have told me a few years ago that businesses and communities across Wisconsin would believe in what we’re building, I probably wouldn’t have believed you. I never thought I was good enough to build a business or a brand that people would genuinely want to partner with.

But God has a way of reminding us of our worth when we start to doubt it.

Every business that has chosen to work with us has been a reminder that people see the value in what we do. They see the heart behind The Wisconsin Explorer. They see our passion for telling stories, supporting small businesses, and shining a light on communities that deserve to be discovered.

People often say that strangers will support you more than your own friends and family, and in many ways, we’ve found that to be true. Yet through those “strangers,” God has introduced us to incredible people who have become friends, partners, and some of our biggest supporters.

Tomorrow we officially kick off our Hartford feature.

Even though Hartford is only about 30 minutes from home, we’ll be staying there all week because this project is one of the biggest features we’ve ever produced. From the very beginning, the people of Hartford have made us feel incredibly welcome. They didn’t hesitate to believe in us or invest in what we’re creating. They saw our value, they believed in our mission, and they reminded us that what we’re building matters.

For that, I am truly grateful.

Thank you to every business, organization, and person who has trusted us to tell your story. We don’t take that responsibility lightly, and we promise to continue giving every feature our whole heart.

Hartford… we’re ready.

See you tomorrow! If you see us out and about in Hartford make sure to say hello❤️

PS: Shout out to Downtown Hartford WI for sponsoring us and being a part of what we’re building 🙏🏻

I love a happy ending! Best news all week!
