CHRISTmas 2020- “Grammies Jammies” - Every year after Thanksgiving, the hunt begins for fleece, t-shirts and embroidery ideas for warm “Jammies” for my kids and grandkids. The gowns and costumes are put away, and my studio becomes a flurry of fleece and embroidery floss! The “bottoms” are made of Polar, anti-pill or Luxor fleece, cut to size and the embellishment on the kids t-shirts keep my embroidery machine busy. The ideas come from their “favorites” of the past year; sports, colors or themes. This year, 11 pairs were in order and were ready to be wrapped and put under the tree for CHRISTmas. The kids open them first, and then rush to put them on to open the rest of their presents. I love making them, and love even more seeing their faces when they open them and put them on! My eldest grand had his first pair when he was just 3 - he is now 18 and still loves them! The fleece keeps them warm, and knowing they love them warms this grandma’s heart. ❤️ This CHRISTmas was “different” to say the least, but one thing remained the same......... 🎄

PILLOWS FROM MOM’S WEDDING GOWN - 2020
Back in October, I was contacted by a classmate who wanted to make some pillows from her mothers wedding gown for the girls in her family for CHRISTmas. I was winding down my business due to the Pandemic, but it was such a special project and I agreed to take a look and see what we could work out. She brought her mom’s gown which she had had cleaned and pressed. It was in good condition, and had a huge train and some lace detail and I soon had some ideas for the 9 pillows. After doing some layouts, I determined that there would be enough fabric from the gown to make all 9 of the pillows with just the addition of a little ribbon. Here is the story........

“Witchy women” in Salem 2020. Costume designs by Terri of SomeWear in Time

Our trip to Salem to visit the witch memorial and the “haunts” of our ancestors who were accused witches made costumes a necessity! A couple
sketches, a little scramble the week before and some quick stitching turned some leftover fabric and scraps into some magical designs! I had so much fun putting these together and Ken and I had fun “dressing up” for Halloween week in Salem Massachusetts!

Mother-of-the-groom gown- (Last of the “Jeff & Renae’s Wedding 2020” blogs).
In the middle of the bridal gown and attendants gowns construction, I entertained a mental vision of what I wanted my gown to be. I wanted a color that complimented the couple’s choice of Navy Silver and Purpe. When I first saw the embroidered lace in the “Ashes of Roses” color at Fields Fabrics, I knew the color was perfect and the gown would be designed around the fabric. It was a crazy search to find chiffon or mesh to match the unique color, and I had to abandon my first design which had a flowing overskirt. The fabric was in my studio, and I didnt begin construction until the week before the wedding, when the bridal gown and the attendants gowns were all completed (talk about last-minute!). I call this “the gown that almost wasn’t”......I was very happy with the end result!

The BRIDESMAIDS - Renae had 7 bridesmaids; 1 matron of honor, 4 bridesmaids and 2 jr. bridesmaids of all shapes & sizes. She asked my advice on selecting a style that would be comfortable and flattering for all of her girls. We looked at several wedding catalogues and my daughter Brooke found one she thought might work- and Renae liked it. The dress Renae chose was perfect for an outdoor summer wedding, and fairly simple to make, but COVID made it extremely difficult to do fittings. Luckily I got measurements in January and found the fabric in February before the pandemic hit! Thank you Renae and Jeff foe trusting me with this project! Love you both!

A First Communion dress for a special little girl - Cathleen asked me over 2 years ago if I would design her daughter Ella’s dress from her mother Cecelia’s wedding gown, and of course it was on my calendar! Little did we know when we started in January, that the April date would be moved to September due to covid! But the dress was waiting for a final fitting, and it was done on my deck (social distancing observed), and the details completed for the September 13 Mass. God Bless you Ella - and thank you all for entrusting me to create this special keepsake! ❤️
