Because I truly believe in the story I am trying to tell with my series, Memories of a Wild Land, I entered two of the videos into the Equus Film Festival. I entered Fragile Ground - Where the story begins and Sand Wash Basin - Wild and Free where we return to the Basin and the horses are still running free due to the collaboration of the wild horse community.
I have no expectations of winning or even placing, but I think it will increase my exposure so more people will hear my story.

IN JUST OVER 24 HOURS…
my full album, Memories of a Wild Land, will be released.

Words can’t fully describe how I’m feeling.

This album comes straight from my heart. It tells the story of what I’ve lived and learned since Aletha and I created Wild Horse Warriors for Sand Wash Basin and signed our MOU with the Bureau of Land Management.

There have been tears… and there has been laughter.
We’ve met incredible people out on the range.
We’ve learned things we never expected—like changing flat tires (about 14 in that first year), and helping others do the same.

We’ve fought to get the Van Gogh Legacy Fence installed…
worked to haul water where it was needed during drought…
partnered with contractors and the BLM to repair ponds and install solar panels…

But maybe most important of all, we learned how to work with others—
across organizations, across perspectives—
to try to find better ways forward for the wild horses.

Being part of the Colorado Wild Horse Working Group is something I will always treasure. I truly believe Colorado is on the brink of meaningful, positive change for our wild horses.

Memories of a Wild Land
This album was written straight from my heart.
It was born out of long days on the range, quiet drives home after meetings, early mornings counting bands in the sagebrush, and the deep love I carry for the wild horses and the land they call home.
Fragile Ground opens with the reality of the range—beautiful, strained, and worth fighting for.
Run Free, Run On reminds us why we fell in love with them in the first place.
Wild Horse Annie – Your Voice Lives On honors the legacy that made this work possible.
Memories of a Wild Land reflects on the sacred history written across desert skies.
And the story doesn’t stop there.
Still We Stand and Boots on the Ground speak to the complicated, often unseen work happening today—the miles, the meetings, the fence repair, the documentation, the hard conversations, and the choice to work together even when we don’t always agree.
I chose to follow with Hope After the Range because I believe in healing. I believe in second chances—for the horses, for the land, and for the people who love them.
And in the end, Sand Wash Basin Wild and Free brings us home—back to the place where it all began, where the horses still run, and where hope still lives on the wind.
This album isn’t about blame.
It’s about responsibility.
It’s about unity.
It’s about standing for something bigger than ourselves.
If the land survives, so do they.

Sand Wash Basin Wild and Free
Today we celebrate Sand Wash Basin Wild and Free. Even after all the gathers, the loss of band members, and the scars of the battles fought, our wild horses run wild and free in Sand Wash Basin and other Herd Management Areas.

Hope After the Range
As our journey through the lives of wild horses comes to a close, our focus turns to what happens after the range. While the outcomes are not always positive, the vast majority of horses find loving homes—this is the heart of Hope After the Range.
Those who work with the Bureau of Land Management during and after gathers experience deep emotion, but we also recognize that managing herd numbers is necessary to protect the land for future generations of both visitors and wild horses. To continue this work, we hold on to hope, inspired by the many success stories of once-wild horses thriving in their new lives.
It was hard to pick a segment of Hope After the Range to share with you. It is a powerful song that shows so many ways the wild horses teach us that there is life after the range.

In quiet barns where silence speaks,
Healing comes in steady beats.
A veteran stands with guarded eyes,
A mustang mirrors what he hides.
No medals pinned, no battle cry —

While Still We Stand shares the frustrations of working with national wild horse leaders and organizations, Boots on the Ground takes you out onto the range—where you can truly experience what those of us with a Memorandum of Understanding with the Bureau of Land Management actually do.
We build and maintain fences, and remove miles of old, hazardous wire. We repair water sources and work alongside the Bureau of Land Management to reopen abandoned wells.
We coordinate with the Department of the Interior to ensure there is a clear understanding of our work: we are not simply hauling water to the horses. Instead, we help move wild horses from overgrazed areas to healthier ranges—sometimes by providing temporary water sources in areas with better vegetation but limited access to water.
Our work is about managing the land as a whole—supporting not just wild horses, but all wildlife that call Herd Management Areas home.
We document herd movement and population numbers, administer fertility control, and report births and deaths. These are the behind-the-scenes efforts that are essential to protecting wild horses and preserving the range for future generations.
We are not paid for this work. We do it because we understand the importance of preserving both the land and the freedom of the wild horses. A healthy range is the foundation of healthy herds.
