Eye injuries account for 15% of fireworks injuries each year.
When viewing fireworks:
- Leave it to the pros
- Don't let kids play with fireworks (sparklers burn at 2,000 degrees!)
- Keep your distance - 65% of injuries are to bystanders
- Never use fireworks while impaired by drugs or alcohol
- Keep a bucket of water nearby
- Anyone using fireworks or standing nearby should wear protective eyewear

Our eye health services begin with our InfantSee program designed to be your child’s first eye exam at 1 year of age. We also participate in the See To Learn program for three year olds, as well as providing that important Kindergarten eye exam and back to school exams.

Were you told that eating carrots will improve your eyesight?
While carrots are a healthy addition to your diet and provide beneficial vitamin A, there are other foods which better help support your eyes.

Foods containing lutein, zeaxanthin and meso-zeaxanthin can aid the eye's protective mechanisms. Lutein and zeaxanthin are found in kale, spinach and other leafy greens. Meso-zeaxanthin is found in certain types of fish.

Try to consume a variety of healthy foods in a rainbow of colors to fuel every part of your body!
