Finishing up breeches for the wedding suit. Brass buttons were corded on so they sit nice and flat against the garment and don’t dangle. This is how pretty much all metal buttons were attached in the period.

Eleanor Foraker, a senior streamstress at the International Latex Corperation, was sewing baby pants when an engineer asked her if she thought she could create a spacesuit.

When NASA invited contractors to compete to make the spacesuit, Ellie and her small team worked together to sew the Apollo astronaut's spacesuits by hand. Each suit had 21 layers of very thin fabric that required extreme sewing precision!
