Our Story
Owning a business at 29 North College Avenue in Newton, is something that runs in the family for Nell Wepner, owner of The Dapper Daisy. Her Great Grandfather Claude Abernethy, Sr. operated a hardware store at this location from the late 1930's to the mid 1970's. Throughout the store, history of her Great Grandfather doesn't go unnoticed. The weathered board's on the wall are from his boathouse (now torn down) originally built in 1929 on Lake Hickory. The metal used for the awning outside and the counter inside, was made from the metal roof from that same boathouse. Established in June of 2015, come visit The Dapper Daisy, designed with re-purposed furniture, unique displays, and most of all Nell's own twist on a hardware store for women; Clothing, jewelry, shoes, accessories, and gifts!
