Did you know that the same year we got married we started DeFeet? I guess the date was Nov 18th 1992. Hope has been behind the scenes keeping order ever since. Keeping the crazy train on tracks for 34 years now. Put her on a bike and she quickly moves to the front, if not off the front. Thanks to Hope for her steady guidance as our CFO. The legend has it that our founder used to carry a suitcase with feet sticking out the bottom. Rumors circulating for 34 yrs about this oddity. Well we found some proof.

The story is true. In 1993 Shane and Hope traveled to Las Vegas for their first Interbike show. They didn't pay for a booth, they just walked the isles. Shane make a crazy looking suitcase to get attention.

As they were about to walk in the show, Shane froze. He couldn't go in. Fear had crept into his mind. He sat down on the steps and wanted to give up. Hope asked him what was wrong. Shane said, I look stupid. I have a suitcase with feet two sticking out. Hope let him think for a bit. He then took one foot off the suitcase, which was enough to give him the power to open the door and take one small step for socks, and one giant leap for cycling socks. ~Shane

Happy Birthday to Morgan Cooper he turns 28 today. Morgan joined the company officially about 6 yrs ago. It's so cool to see him working with us in sales and marketing. I was shocked when he asked to go road ridding with us. What a wonderful experience to have. Thank you Morgan, let's ride! ~Shane

Did you know Paul Willerton was the first DeFeet ambassador — and the first pro athlete — to take DeFeet socks to Europe? That was back in 1993. He became a partner at DeFeet not long after.
Thirty-three years later, he’s still helping us ride in the peloton and fight the elements. The DeFam is full of wonderful, talented people. Paul was the first. ~Shane
