✨Ceramic ‘Umeke Workshop with .ceramics_ ✨

Specializing in ‘umeke kū’oho, the original non-refrigerated storage method of poi, Nakana Jugoz of Mana Ceramics creates 100% eco friendly, heirloom quality pieces closely meant to last generations.

In this workshop you will hand build your own sustainable ceramic ‘umeke and have it fired and glazed by Mana Ceramics. All materials are provided and participants will have the opportunity to build up to two pieces, depending on skill level. Turn around for pieces is up to 1 MONTH with dry and kiln firing times. Pick up for finished pieces will be at the Island Nation store.

Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to learn the craft of traditional Hawaiian food preservation and keep the culture alive!

✨Lei Poʻo Workshop with ✨

Join us for a hands-on Lei Poʻo Workshop led by 17-year-old lei maker Kawaihili Uyeshiro of Ko Kawai Lei. Kawaihili has been working with plants and crafting with her hands since she was eight years old and has developed a deep passion for creating with nature.

In this workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of making a lei poʻo (head lei) and leave with a beautiful, handcrafted lei of your own. All materials will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring flowers or foliage from home to incorporate into their lei for a personal touch.

Come ready to create, connect, and carry on the art of lei-making with Kawaihili!
