The countdown starts! 🗓️ We’re about a month out from our next event! Please meet us at Apple Blossom Trails on Saturday, Sept. 19th from 10am - 3pm. This will be their last Craft and Farmers Market of the season. We will be set up in a huge barn, protected from any weather that may pop up.

Today, I spoke to Diana of Apple Blossom Trails. Sadly, they lost many apple trees, likely incurring other damages as well due to last week’s severe storms.

I plan on attending this Saturday’s market on August 22 as a BUYER to support ABT and these vendors who’ll be displaying their goods, all while probably still dealing with their own storm damaged properties and ongoing power outages at home.

So if you can, take a break from storm cleanup and please join me this Saturday to support these folks!

And of course, plan to come out to see us on September 19th! We look forward to seeing you!

Hello everyone. Yep… it’s been a minute! One week out from the devastating storms that hit the Chicago/NW Indiana area, and many folks are still without electricity and with heavily damaged properties. We were very fortunate to get our power restored within 48 hours. We have to reinstall one piece of aluminum flashing on our garage. And all our trees made it through the storm okay so yes, we were very fortunate indeed. Our prayers are with our neighbors who continue to suffer the effects of this storm.

Tonight’s post is just to say “hey” 👋 and to show you a restoration of a customer’s well-loved stretch bracelet I completed. The elastic had totally deteriorated, rhinestone rings had rusted, and the clear crystals were lifeless. I restrung her bracelet, adding a large filigree bead to hide/protect the elastic cording’s connection, replaced her clear beads with larger AB crystals, and replaced all rhinestone rings with new. With the change in clear bead sizes, we had 2 gray glass pearls left over. I added some additional crystal beads I stock and made a pair of lever-back earrings for her!

If you have a favorite piece of jewelry that needs to be repaired, refreshed, or reimagined, please let me know ~ I may be able to help. Costume jewelry only though. I do not repair fine jewelry - that goes into the skilled hands your trusted, fine jewelry professional.

Tomorrow I will post some new offerings I’ve been working on this past week. 2 new summery bracelets, and, looking ahead towards autumn, 7 new earring styles in stone, glass, crystal, and Czech fire-polished glass. 6 of the 7 are extremely limited in quantities with only 1 or 2 pair available in each style. Follow up on Franny the Flamingo’s autumn/Halloween bling.

I’m really happy the way this ensemble turned out - it’s a cute necklace. Too bad it’s 99.9% plastic beads and made for a plywood porch flamingo! She did get a couple black glass beads & a small orange crystal bead for her matching earring (singular.) Now I just have to figure out how to attach it since she doesn’t have an ear. 🤔🤣

Good Saturday morning! Just goofing around a bit today, taking a break from customer jewelry. I’m making my front door guest greeter, Franny the Flamingo, some autumn/Halloween bling as summer starts to wind down. Got some beads from a friend of a friend. The black and orange beads are plastic and definitely NOT the quality I would ever think to use in jewelry for my customers. However, Franny doesn’t mind at all - she’s happy for her fashionable jewelry wardrobe change! She’ll just have to wait until September to wear it. 😁🦩🍁🍂🎃

Happy Thursday everyone! Get your umbrellas ☔️ out - looks to be several rainy days ahead.

Just wanted to share with you some pictures of special order jewelry items that were completed for our buyers from last weekend’s Cedar Lake Farmers Market.

Good afternoon all! Just a quick update on our recent “Back the Blue” donations. The recipients from our event on Saturday, July 25th at Cedar Lake Farmers Market are as follows:

• Cedar Lake FOP # 173 will receive all contributions placed in the donation jar that was next to the BTB jewelry display.

• Beecher (IL) Police Dept will receive donations from the sale of a BTB bracelet and earrings. Since their department is so small, they don’t have an FOP lodge. Instead, their donation will be earmarked for their community outreach programs.

• Evergreen Park (IL) FOP was to receive a donation from the sale of two BTB bracelets, however, they do not accept donations. Instead, they requested that their donation be given to the Village Pantry Coalition, a food pantry in Evergreen Park.

I’m happy that these donations, although small, will help the communities these police departments so proudly serve! 🖤💙🖤

Today’s event at Cedar Lake Farmers Market was great! The weather was perfect and all the people were super friendly! Lots of talented vendors showcased their handcrafted items and beautiful farm fresh produce was available for purchase. We did get some fresh fruits and veggies and some tasty baked goods. 😊

We’d like to thank everyone who stopped at our booth and purchased jewelry or placed special orders. Your support of our small but growing business truly means a lot! 🥰

We’re taking the month of August off to have some summertime weekend fun of our own. 😎 Our next event will be on Saturday, September 19th at Apple Blossom Trails Craft & Farmers Market in Crown Point. More information will be posted on our page next month.
