"Good" Carbon black as the article states is a powerful additive used in geotextiles. As a UV absorber it works well. Lesson I recently learned, sometimes extra carbon black is added (beyond 2-3% of the resin) to improve how long HDPE or PP shade cloth can last as cover shade. Cautionary tale 2 parts. One: Resin producers can get the mix wrong and add to much (unlikely and possible) or The mill adds to much and the HDPE or PP have reduced mechanical strength and elasticity. While you probably knew asking about how the amount of carbon black added was decided and monitored; reminders hopefully they are helpful.

Its a question in our checklist when working with new mills and when we do periodic checks with our partners.
