Even with a learning disability, you can still have a successful life. Keep in mind that success is different for everyone. Quite often people with learning disabilities are misunderstood. Most people think less of those with learning disabilities.

If people actually took more time out to support those with learning disabilities and nudge them in the right direction you can actually see how well and how successful they can become.

Hello everyone! Happy Disability Pride Month. We'd like to go over the color representation of what the colors on the flag represent!

We've decided to make these colors as sensory friendly as possible for folks with visual difficulties. If they happen to be an issue, we do apologize in advance!

Green: Represents sensory disabilities. Deafness and blindness are included in this representation!

Blue: Represents emotional and psychiatric disabilities. Includes mental illness, anxiety and depression.

White: Represents invisible and undiagnosed disabilities

Yellow (or Gold): Represents neurodiversity. This expands across all neurodiversity, ADHD, Autism, SPD, DID, ODD, NPD, et cetera. Neurodiversity is an umbrella term and should be used respectively.

Red: Represents physical disabilities.

Black: Represents the anger and mourning of disabled folks lost to ableism and for disabled folks who continue to fight against eugenics and neglect they face to this day.

The original flag was laid out in a zigzag pattern. However, this pattern was causing a strobe-like effect for folks with visual difficulties and this was changed to the simple diagonal with paler coloration.

Please do not continue to use the old flag as it has been documented to cause migraines for folks with visual difficulties. It is physically harmful to them and the continued use of that old design is inappropriate for representation.

Welcome to the Beginning of July, Y'all!
This Month is Disability Pride Month!

In 2024, The Theme was...
"We Want a Life Like Yours,"
In 2025, The Theme was...
"We Belong Here, And We Are Here to Stay,"
This Year...
In 2026, The Theme is...
"The World Works Better With Us,"

These Three-Phrases Speak of:
* Full Inclusion
* Respect
* Support
* Equal Rights
~The Culture of Disabled Individuals
~ The Individuals Identity as a Disabled Individual
~ The Disabled Community

Originally Celebrated in Bostin (1990), It First Took Place.
Secondly, Celebrated in Chicago (2004), Hosting The First Pride Parade.
Now... It IS EVERY Month of JULY!
And In the Same Month as July 4th or United States Independence Day.
Also, Known as one of America's Important Holidays.

Today is Joke Day... but do not use the R word in any way, shape, or form, especially towards disabled folks. That is a degrading and dismissive term.

Welcome Back Everyone,

Today is International Joke Day!
And Like Anything, Jokes Can Go Too Far...

Today Can Be All Fun and Games...
But I Wanted to Bring Up a Concern.

Many People use the "R-Word,"
And when they are Caught Saying it in a Negative or Offensive way,
They Say, "It was just a Joke..."
This Bothers Me!

Historically, the "R-Word," was "Clinically a Medical Term."
Now it is More Often than Not used as an Offense and Said in a Negative Meaning Referring to a Person with the Inability to Catch Up like a NeuroTypical Individual.

It is to Minimize (or Make Smaller) People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and Sometimes Physical Disabilities.

In the Dictionary the "R-Word" refers to "Re**rd." or "Re**rded"
It means ...
1. To Delay or Imped the Development or Process of...
2. "To Slow-Up ESPECIALLY by Preventing or Hindering Advancement or Accomplishment."
3. A Foolish or Stupid Person/Idea.

All Happy and Light-Hearted Joking Aside,
Please Do Know, and Keep In Mind...

The "R-Word" is Not a Joke or Joking Matter,
And Will NEVER BE...
It is a Negative Reference to Another Individual/Idea,
Who/That We Do Not Understand or Say in Anger for Lack of Better Terms, Much Like Swearing.

Instead, I wanted to bring Light to How One Can Be "Just Joking," to Cover-Up Being Caught Saying Something Nasty and They DO Somewhat Mean IT,
Meaning in Offence and That is When It Goes Too Far!

I Hope, With All of My Heart,
Today is a Good and Happy International Joke Day to Everyone!

Yours,
Robin @ The Nebula Palace
