Public safety officials and Public Works crews are out in the community assessing damage from the storm that came through Homewood less than an hour ago.

We are aware of many downed power lines in Homewood. PLEASE DO NOT APPROACH ANY DOWNED POWER LINE!

The 183rd Street viaduct and the Dixie Highway viaduct in Homewood are currently CLOSED due to standing water. Please do not attempt to drive through flooded roadways or around barricades.

At this time, please avoid:

- Halsted at Ridge Road is completely blocked

- the Willow Road and Dixie Highway intersection

We are asking residents to limit unnecessary travel at this time. Please use caution if you must be on the road, allow extra time, and be alert for downed trees, debris, standing water, and other storm-related hazards.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as crews work to make our roadways safe.
