Rust to Riches (RTR) was founded by Chris Hegge and Steve Motichka, for their pure passion and talent for, intially, the art of antique vehicle restoration and customization. After working years for a top fuel drag racing team and then a nationally renowned hot rod shop, Chris decided to move back to his hometown and share his talents with the folks on the East Coast. After founding a successful e

quipment rental company in Northeast Pennsylvania in the late 1980's, Steve has finally stepped out of the day-to-day operations of the company to focus on the Rust To Riches Projects and get hands-on with his own passion: Chevelle's. RTR performs everything from sheet metal work and fabrication to custom home decor, also performing mechanical hot/street rod work and restoration of everything from antique gas pumps to Coke machines and everything vintage! Good morning. Sorry we havent posted in a while weve been busy on quite a few projects. But the warm weather has us thinking about hot rod season and this one is finally ready to go. We've been working on this 57 chevy 210 for some time now and it evolved into a way bigger project than we ever anticipated. Just a recap, we did quarters, floors, new doors, new fenders, sandblasted and painted the chassis, new suspension, fresh paint and body, new interior, the list goes on. This is essentially a brand new 1957 Chevy 210 and boy does it look it. We are extremely proud of how this one came out and extremely lucky to have worked with such an awesome owner on this one. This one will still be in our care a bit longer until the weather breaks and we can put some test miles on it but we are happy to have the majority of the work completed on this project!

Here's a little 65' Mustang we just completed a drive-line swap on. We removed the origional 6 cylinder and automatic transmission and installed a 302 V8 with a Tremec 5 speed that the customer supplied us with. We also cleaned up and painted the engine bay and ran a new dual exhaust while we had things apart. The seats were also re-covered by us a few years back and are holding up beautifully. This car is a blast to drive after all the upgrades and is ready for the owner to come pick up and enjoy for himself! 68 Ford F100 in the shop for some sheet metal work. We ended up pulling the cab and replacing the floor, cab mounts, inner and outer rocker panels, cab corners and firewall on this one. We blended the paint, re-assembled the truck and got it back on the road for the customer to enjoy!

Huge project update on our 57 Chevy project, we have fresh paint! A lot has happened to this car since we posted about it 6 months ago. The underside and firewall of the car were painted in factory semi gloss black. The body was then re-installed onto the chassis with new rubber bushings and bolts. The engine and transmission were installed back into the chassis after some freshing up and the wiring was gone through and fixed where needed. The dash was painted and assembled and the car was once again able to run and drive under its own power. The body was block sanded until every line was crisp and straight. The car was then finally backed into the paint booth to relieve a fresh coat of PPG surf blue metallic. We then assembled the body and began the tedious process of restoring the origional trim. Next the car will be wet sanded and buffed and it's off to re-assembly. We love how this one is coming out and can't wait to see the final product! Video of the car in the booth in the comments

Does the wiring in your hot rod look something like this first picture? If it does we can fix that! Thats the original harness for this beautiful 56 Chevy Nomad, and after +60 years of being hacked on an spliced back together it was time for an upgrade. So we ordered a painless harness and got to work completely re-wiring this car from front to back. If you have things like AC, electric fans, or aftermarket gagues (all present in this build) a harness like this really is the way to go and makes things much simpler. Wiring is by far one of the least exciting things when building a car, but if its done wrong it can make an otherwise awesome ride a complete nightmare. We were happy to get this car straightened out and can't wait to see him back on the road enjoying his hot rod.

Remember our 68 Barracuda project from what seems like forever ago? Well we actually completed paint and body work on the car a while ago and have been waiting on a nice day to pull it out in the sun and show it off! Just to recap this car needed extensive sheet metal work when it arrived. We replaced, quarters, floors, sail panels, door bottoms, and lower fender panels. We straightened everything out with some body work and blocked the primer till the car was perfectly straight. For color we went back original with some PPG B5 blue. We wet sanded and buffed the whole car to get a smooth as glass finish and also got the car running driving and stopping. Up next we will be turning the car back over to its owner so he and his son can wrap up the remaining re-assembly. We were happy to bring this one back to life and look forward to seeing it when it's completed!

We're just wrapping up some mechanical work on this beautiful 1950 Ford F1 sporting its original flathead V8. The owner of this truck was very clear, make my truck reliable again. So far we've replaced the decaying fuel tank, swapped out the fuel pump, re-built the carburetor, re-built the distributor, and installed new spark plugs and wires. Now this truck starts and runs better than some vehicles with modern fuel injection! After a few more road tests (weather permitting) she will be ready to go back to her owner.

Check out this 78 Ford f250 in the shop for full restoration. We started this one like we start all our full builds by stripping the truck down to the chassis, media blasting away all the rust, and applying a fresh coat of chassis paint. The drive-train in this old truck was super solid and just required some new seals and some freshening up and it went right back in the frame rails. Every brake line, fuel line, bushing, and hose on the chassis was replaced, which means this truck will run, drive, handle, and stop like it did when it was new almost 50 years ago. Next we will turn our attention to the body which needs extensive sheet metal replacement so stay tuned for updates!

Check out what's in the shop this week! This 57 Bel Air is in for some mechanical work after being in storage for an extended period of time. Remember, we do everything from full restorations to simple tune-ups. So if your hot rod needs some love after the long winter months we can handle that stuff as well, so hit us up!

Check out another new project in the shop. Who doesn't love a 57 Chevy? This one will be receiving the full treatment while its in our care. We started by stripping the car down to bare bones and immediately discovered the floors were gone. We ordered up a one piece floor with toe boards and got to work replacing the whole thing in one shot. We also replaced the lower quarters while we were at it as they were visually rotted away. We then media blasted both the body and the chassis to get rid of any old paint and surface rust. The chassis was re-bushed and got a fresh coat of black paint. Next up we will be straightening out the body in preparation for paint and re-installing the body on the chassis with new body bushings. Check back in with us for updates!

Check out this 68 Barracuda notch back, one of our newest projects. When the car arrived it was in need of extensive metal work. We began by replacing the trunk floor, rebuilding the bottoms of the doors, rebuilding the lower fenders, patching the inner wheel houses, hanging new quarters and tail panel, and fabricating sections of the B-pillar which had been cut out by someone prior to us. With replacment panels for this car being allmost non-existent, many parts had to be hand fabricated. After some body work and seam sealer everything received a coat of primer. In the coming weeks we will block sand the car and then it will be getting a fresh coat of paint. Let us know in the comments what color you would paint this beauty.
