Palaka fabric is rooted in Hawaiian history. During the late 1800s, plantation workers needed a shirt that could withstand field work. The word “palaka” is actually a transliteration of the English word “frock,” based on the shirts worn by British and American sailors.

Palaka fabric became popular, far beyond the can fields, and we are happy to present our palaka muumuus!
