Today I closed a chapter. But it's a chapter I would read over and over again because it is a good chapter in this story of life. Today on Small Business Saturday, I closed my in store vendor activities at a place I considered home for nearly 3 years. Commerce Street Market was a place I was able to grow as a small business owner and a place I flourished for years with many diaper cakes, repurposed furniture pieces and unique vintage finds. I'm going to continue this journey, but on a much smaller scale. So stay tuned to the page. I'm not going anywhere, it is just going to be a little different. Less furniture. More vintage and y'all know I find some pretty cool items. I'm going to shift my focus to online and see where the road leads. A huge shout out to Josh and Claire who helped me navigate these last few years. I appreciate it more than you know. I went to NYC in 2017 and visited Ground Zero. It is such a solemn place. 22 years later I still remember the feeling, where I was. Austin was in kindergarten when 9-11 happened and I remember just wanting to get to my son, his school went on lock down. Noone in, Noone out. I was working at Campbell Clinic in the 910/920 Madison building. I remember just wanting to hold my son. It was a somber day in America, I pray we never forget. So many perished for our freedom that day and the years to follow. I 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 we never ever forget. 💙❤️🇺🇸❤️💙

Happy Labor Day! Did you know that Oregon was the FIRST state to observe this holiday? They didn't observe it in September, but the first Saturday in June, that is until other states joined. Congress passed a bill signed by President Grover Cleveland making it an official federal holiday in 1894, but state observations date back to 1887. Thank you Oregan for starting the trend! I hope you and yours have a safe Labor Day!

Sorry I have been MIA. Things in life have been quite hectic with work in clinical research at St. JUDE and personally. I have had a mass in my neck since mid June, which has increasingly grown and now feels like someone is checking my pulse on my esophagus. I had a fine needle aspirate biopsy a week ago tomorrow. MI HAVE THE MOST AMAZING ENT Oncologist surgeon.

Although my biopsy report was not what I had hoped for, I'm STILL hopeful. The tissue is lymph node tissue, which the surgeon originally didn't suspect. Because of the medium they use when they send the fine needle aspirate collection (lab talk) they are unable to test the lymph node tissue for things like lymphoma, which is a concern. So excision (surgical removal) and biopsy is the only option. The positive things the biopsy ruled out is a thyroglossal duct cyst which would have been a bigger surgery and partial hyoid bone removal. It isn't squamous cell carcinoma, which is another big relief. Surgery will be booked likely mid September, and recovery should be about a week or two as long as things go accordingly.

Even though my diagnosis is still unknown, I praise God for the things I do know. I'm not out of the big bad woods for diagnosis (YET), but I am giving this to God. There is still a lot of waiting, but my God is bigger than this lymph node mass. I'm at peace. I can't explain it other than God Himself. I have felt the prayers for me, more than you can possibly know. So while I wait on the next door to open for me on this health journey, I'm praising my God in the hallway. I may be slow to post or update but i promise I'm still here! "For with God nothing shall be impossible." Luke 1:37
