For 400 years, we've been taught that becoming our oppressor is the aim in this life.

And so many of us have embraced the streets rather than mimic another people.

The day will come when we'll have the courage and will to become who we really are, the wisdom to know that we are not people of the streets, and the faith to realize that the only image we need reflect is God's and God's alone.

For 50 years our fashion has reflected the streets because we were forced to the streets. By reaching back to our heritage, we will redefine our culture, elevating it from the streets to the highest echelons of power.

It is crucial that we actively promote our own history because if we don't, nobody else will.

We have been taught that the first masjid built was in Madina.

In actuality, the first Masjid was built in modern-day Ethiopia, in the Kingdom of Axum, under the King named Najashi. It is known as Masjid an-Najāshī.

The refuge that black people gave Muslims in the early days of Islam is not highlighted or appreciated. Nor is this masjid revered or visited. It serves as a reminder of how, although we are all brothers and sisters in Islam, due to human nature, race and racial solidarity have always been powerful factors of human existence.

Black people, like fragments rent from a shattered mirror, bear witness to the theft of our heritage, wherein the stolen tongues and usurped garbs, with malignant intent, conspire to strip our noble selves of rightful recognition.

Africa will once again control its resources and rise to new heights of prosperity with the guidance of visionary leaders.

Mansa Musa is a testament to the wealth and power that can be generated by controlling the resources of one's country. He serves as a reminder of the vast natural resources that exist on the African continent, and the potential for African nations to become economic powerhouses.

Indeed, the richest man in history was Mansa Musa, a West African king who ruled the Kingdom of Mali in the 14th century. Under his leadership, Mali became one of the wealthiest and most powerful empires in the world, thanks in large part to the kingdom's abundant reserves of gold, which were controlled entirely by the Mali Empire.
