Real collaboration: The human element can’t replicate.
I was digging through my archives for a client project recently, and I stumbled upon a treasure trove of past editorial work. It reminded me that while technology shifts, the heart of our work doesn't.

What AI can’t replicate are the collaborations with photographers. It’s the energy on set, the shared problem-solving, and the serendipity of letting a shoot unfold.

I looked back at a few of these highlights—from capturing the rise of chef celebrities like Grant Achatz at Alinea to visually untangling complex environmental stories—and I’m reminded of why I do this. Whether it’s choosing a photographer for their specific subject expertise or their unique curiosity, that human-to-human connection is the difference between a generated image and a story that actually resonates.

My client, a family pharmacy chain in Mexico, was being squeezed by a national expansion. Their secret weapon to fighting back? They belonged.

While the national giant brought a standardized corporate template, we brought 60 years of shared history and "Frontera" pride.

The Strategy:
As a brand steward, my role wasn't just to "design," but to identify the one thing a billion-dollar competitor couldn't buy: Trust. Working with the founders, we anchored the brand in their 1960 origin story. While the competition focused on "efficiency," we focused on belonging.

The Ex*****on (Human + AI):
We didn't just use AI to save time; we used it to build cultural mirrors. * Art Direction: I used my years of photo-direction experience to guide Gemini in creating portraits that felt authentic to the border—not generic stock.

Sonic Branding: We leveraged Suno to compose a regional anthem that turned a marketing message into a community rallying cry.

The Result? A 4x lead in community engagement (20% vs. the competitor's 5%). You can’t replicate decades of local roots with a national template.
