The kneel ———-inspired a photograph that has iconized a moment in 2020 history. This is my expressionistic interpretation of it. I started with a base layer months ago, during the Corona quarantine. But it sat in my living studio unfinished waiting for a passionate story to tell. In the quiet of the night 3 days ago as I was reviewing my unfinished pieces, I was actually planning another piece, I was blessed by the inspiration gods with this thought. I started sketching and before I know it was putting pastel to paper almost unconsciously. I was tired and upset with how it was looking as went to bed already to move on to the next piece. As I arose with fresh eyes the oil pastel settled I found completeness. The moment is about our brave souldier and why is she kneeling. It’s not about anyone else. What is she saying to the people in combat/riot gear? Who are we in this piece? Are we also in the riot gear or are we kneeling a few feet from her?

Finding Center—— these are times to not lose focus. Stay centered and make sure these changes in society are permanent. It’s time for strategy and changes in policy. I don’t want my future generations will not have to fight the same fight.————————— and old painting I never got to post. I tried to explore character development and fantasy art. —————-

“Worth his weight in meniscus”. After the motivating speeches from the Houston protests, I was inspired to finish this heartbreaking piece. This is my response to George Floyd’s murder.
But I used my body instead.
I traced knees, they are gold because the police knees are “worth” more than an entire mans life. ~~~ We have to take a stand & make changes. We will never be tired, we will never give up! ~~~This may be largest piece yet! 6’10”x 3’x6” ~~~
