Sometimes it feels like everything is going the wrong way… like the door closed, the plan failed, or the progress just stopped. But what if that moment isn’t the end—what if it’s God repositioning you?

What feels like a setback can be the very place He’s building your strength, your faith, and your story. The pause, the pressure, the redirection—it all has purpose.

You’re not behind. You’re being prepared.

Before "I Am More Than Able" was written, I used to sit in church and quietly wish for the kind of peace and spirit I saw in others.

Life brought challenges that I truly believed would break me… but instead, they became the very things that changed me.

Through those hardships, I leaned on Jesus—and little by little, He replaced my pain with peace. That peace grew into a spirit I had once only wished for… and that journey is what led to my book.

Out of that same gratitude, my store More Than Able was born.

If you love Jesus, I’d love for you to check it out. Every t-shirt, hoodie, hat, and design is a reflection of His goodness and a reminder that no matter what you face—you are more than able through Him.

For the first 2 years I was a para in high school, every student I had with Down Syndrome was one of the happiest people on the planet. They LOVED when I was silly with them.

My 3rd year, there was a student with Downs that I was struggling to connect with. He was nonverbal, or so I thought! It wasn't until I saw him in the hallway with his mom that I realized he was a full on talker. He wasn't like the students I had previously taught. I adjusted how I interacted with him and he started to open up slowly. Though he liked to taunt me with boogers, his stories, interests and perspective on life gave me insight into who he was. He made me laugh regularly with his sarcasm and theatrics.

It opened my eyes to just how different Down Syndrome can be from person to person. It's not a one size fits all. They are all unique and invaluable!

Tonight was a bittersweet moment. I attended a celebration of all students in our department in Klein ISD . With this being my 5th year as a para, I got to see them grow in leaps and bounds over their 4 years at Klein Cain. I feel so proud and thankful to have been a part of their journey. They, along with the parents I've come to know, truly changed my life and I'm proud to know them.

This was also the last celebration with my students as a para, so to say the least, this was a night to remember.

It was Donation Day! One year ago today, I published "I Am More Than Able" on Amazon, inspired by my students. Watching them compete in Special Olympics has been such a joy to me, I was happy to give back! Thank you to anyone who has bought, shared, told someone about my book. I appreciate you.

It was Donation Day! One year ago today, I published "I Am More Than Able" on Amazon, inspired by my students. They have made such a profound difference in my life and I was happy to be able to help with their costs for the State Track Meet this weekend! Good luck Klein Champions!

Easter is a time to remember that Jesus was resurrected and is alive to this day.

My entire life I believed in Jesus, but I didn't feel his presence in my life until about 7 years ago. I started listening to Elevation Church podcast and started realizing that the "coincidences" in my life were not coincidences. They were guidance.

I started paying attention to those moments and it lead me to Klein Cain where I found joy in my job. As a former computer teacher, I was hired a month before quarantine in a department that had previously been paper based. I felt His presence on this timing.

When I wrote my book, I Am More Than Able, it was impulsive. I was researching side gigs and felt the need to write instead. A few hours later I had a poem that was so meaningful to me I wanted to create it and share it. It was a spark that helped me believe in myself. That's God.

A year later, I'm making the hardest decision I've ever had to make. I love my job as a paraprofessional. My coworkers have become like family. While we've had our moments, I've been a part of a dream team. Having students 7 hours a day for most of the year, for their entire high school career makes it so easy to love them as my own. Seeing them grow has brought me an immeasurable amount of joy and pride. But this year I felt like I was giving my all to my students. By the time I got home to my family, I was exhausted. My drive to do anything (promote my book) was very limited. A "coincidence" has lead me to make this my last year as a paraprofessional. There will be lots of tears following this path, but I believe it is His perfect timing.

All this to say. I'm thankful for Jesus' resurrection as he is ever present in every step of my journey. Happy Easter!

One of our jobs as a para is to figure out what is bothering a student. If they can't articulate what they are feeling, we use the things we can see to help us figure it out. This is where knowing our students is imperative. It gives us the ability to see when something isn't right. But what if what's wrong is where we can't see?

This segment was very eye opening on how gut health can be damaged through their medications and show itself through aggression and self-harm.

Granted, this would be out of our control to fix, but what if gut health is the root cause of some of the behaviors we see.
