AKARI creator, Candace Simpson, has had creative blood flowing through her body since she was a child. A native of Houston, TX, Candace's background in fashion design is first rooted in her childhood days. She often reconstructed vintage clothing and clothes that didn’t fit her as well as she’d liked. Her earliest memories are from working with a needle, thread and oversized t-shirts to transform

them into gorgeous custom made shirts and dresses. This is where she developed an appreciation for detail and quality craftsmanship and most of all – her passion for design.
