ART IN ARCHITECTURE.

There’s something compelling about art and architecture when artistic expression is embedded into the design itself, rather than added afterward as decoration.

That idea came to mind during a visit to the Permit Sonoma Offices, where a routine field trip to verify zoning criteria unexpectedly became a thought-provoking experience.

The installation on display was created by employees from various departments, each tasked with designing a “block” representing their work and relationship to the community. The result was a fascinating mix of diversity, wit, and creativity emerging from one of the most unexpected places - government offices.

The exhibition became a fitting metaphor for thoughtful architecture and construction: many small pieces coming together to create something larger, more connected, and more meaningful.

A reminder that creativity exists everywhere - often hiding in plain sight and in the most unexpected hands.

Earth Day is a useful reminder, but at SA+C Inc., sustainability is embedded in how we operate day to day, not a once-a-year message.

SA+C stands for Sustainable Architecture + Consulting, and that approach carries through design consulting, adaptive reuse, Nantucket Salvage, material recirculation, reclaimed merchandise, and how we plan and develop future properties from the outset.

We approach sustainability as a system of decisions, what we preserve, what we repurpose, how we design for durability, and how we build with intention.

These examples from our projects, show how reclaimed materials shape spaces, inform design strategies, and become functional objects that extend material life cycles.

Not an add-on, but a consistent framework that reduces waste, adds value, and keeps resources in circulation.

✨ A collage from my recent visit to the ÖÖD factory in Houston.

I fell in love with these mirrored houses the first time I saw them, so it was a pleasure to meet the team behind the vision, learn more about the details, and see the inner workings of the brand up close.

It was a reminder that the most compelling work happens when design vision, operational thinking, and ex*****on come together. The strongest brands always go deeper than aesthetics, though these images are certainly enough to make anyone want to move right in!

Wallpaper can define a space in a single move.

In this bathroom, one pattern brought rhythm, movement, and identity, turning a functional room into something intentional and composed. It set the tone so the rest could stay quiet and supportive.

More than a finish, wallpaper adds depth, scale, and structure without changing the footprint.

The result: impact without construction.

Early concept visualization for a current consulting project and potential three-unit micro-resort development in the Caribbean. We’re using AI at the front end of the design process to quickly test massing, spatial relationships, and overall experienc, well before traditional 3D modeling, so we can move faster and think more clearly.

At SA+C, AI is a practical design accelerator, not the point: it reduces friction, speeds iteration, and gives us more room for thoughtful, place-responsive architecture. This work reflects our ongoing focus on small-scale hospitality, indoor-outdoor living, and development opportunities we actively consult on and selectively pursue ourselves.

We’re starting 2026 by putting SA+C’s design methodology front and center, through our upcoming Development Properties. Our work is rooted in intentionality: warm modern forms (never rigid), strong indoor–outdoor flow, and nature-based design that feels grounded in place.

We design for real life, how people move through a home, gather, pause, work and reset, guided by honest materials and thoughtful details that hold up in daily living.

More soon as we share the Development Properties pipeline and the thinking behind what we’re building next.
