Friday Fun Fact!

As we know, quilts are personal creations, indicative of current trends and with the aid of modern rotary cutters and rulers, exceptionally accurate.
In various religious communities, quilters, if not accidentally, must intentionally create an imperfect quilt. Because, “only God is perfect,” creating a “perfect” quilt was a sign of excess pride. In these quilts if you look closely, you will see in brightly colored quilts, for example, one faint block. These “mistakes” whether intentional or accidental, were deemed, “humility blocks” and thus acceptable among these societies.

I bet you’ll consider this entertaining story the next time you make a “mistake” and consider whether or not to redo that block!

Fun Fact!

In March 2016, a woman named Barbara Schubert passed away at 77 years of age. Barbara was a resident of Prairie Village, Kansas.
Unbeknownst to her family, Barbara was a collector of fabric... by collector, I should say hoarder, like many of us! Although Barbara had an unusual habit of purchasing 12 of EVERYTHING she bought for her sewing obsession. Amazingly, her family uncovered 15,000 yards of pristine fabric!! 15,000 YARDS!! As a result, Barbara’s family opened a store front to sell her fabric for $2 a yard!
So ladies, when your family and friends remark on the amount of fabric you’ve cleverly squirreled away, you can share Barbara’s story so that in comparison, your stash seems quite sensible!
Just between us however, let’s see who among us can get to 15,000 yards of gorgeous fabric first! Happy hoarding!! ❤️❤️❤️

BLESSED BEYOND BELIEF!! As I lay down tonight I am just in awe. 2 days ago I made this page public...2 days and there are already over 200 people following it. I never imagined that this could grow so quickly. I absolutely love what I do! I have felt lost for several years since I had to give up my nursing career but now feeling the joy these quilts bring to others by preserving their memories I can finally say I feel whole again. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all you have done and continue to do to help me grow!! God bless

To answer several frequently asked questions in regards to price, sizes of quilts, number of t-shirts needed per quilt etc. here is a little bit of information and how to expect orders to be processed. I will meet with you when you are ready to begin your order and we will determine which graphics etc. you want to be used(front only, back only, or front and back). Most graphics will fit into a 12" size block. Those blocks will run $10.00. If the graphic is larger(sometimes 2x and larger shirts this is the case or baseball roster's etc) there will be an additional charge per block usually $1-$2 each. 20-25 blocks is approximately the size of a twin. 36-40 for a king. These numbers are with sashing included between the blocks. Sashing is the strips of material you see in the photos that separate the blocks. This sashing is optional so if you have a large number of shirts we could chose a layout that doesn't include sashing and fit more blocks in that space. When you are ready for your quilt to be made we will discuss layout, material colors, etc and half of the estimated amount will be due to place the order. I will notify you 1-2 weeks prior to completion and the remaining balance will be due at pick up. If you have any further questions I will be happy to answer them in the comments below or feel free to reach out to me at 903-960-0383.
