Benny Reynolds placed in the top ten in the all-around standings eight times between 1958 and 1966. Born near Twin Bridges, Montana, in 1936, he learned the rodeo business from his parents, who encouraged him to make it a career.

An outstanding high school athlete, Benny Reynolds gave up football and baseball for rodeo. In 1958 he was named RCA Rookie of the Year, and three years later he edged out Don McLaughlin, Guy Weeks, and Harry Tompkins for the all-around crown. In 1966 Benny Reynolds received the very first Linderman Award. He was one of a few men who qualified for the PRCA’s National Finals Rodeo in three events–bareback bronc riding, bull riding, and steer wrestling.

One of the sport’s great all-around performers, Benny Reynolds “retired” to his ranch at Twin Bridges in the 1970s, but he still rode on the National Old Timers Rodeo Association circuit. In 1982 he captured the NOTRA all-around title, and in 1984 he won the saddle bronc riding in the Legends Rodeo at Great Falls, Montana. He finally left the arena in 1993 after breaking his neck in a riding accident at age 57. Benny Reynolds now lives at Dillon, Montana.
He passed away in 2014.
