Hi to all my Renn Faire family, I just wanted to tell you how much your love and support has meant to me these last few weeks. Just to let you know what my condition is & to clear up any misunderstandings. Some of you came to me & thought I have cancer, some were hurt that I hadn't reached out this last year and some were just in shock at the way I look now.
This last year has been difficult with alot of pain, sickness & trying to see what was wrong. After many trips to the ER, many doctors and losing 50 pounds, I finally found out. I literally woke up one day and my spine was sticking out the wrong way... my vertebrae had collapsed. I have adult degenerative kyphoscoliosis, which is a combination complex deformity of kyphosis (humpback) & scoliosis (C curve) of my spine. In seniors its all about pain & compression & there's no cure or reversing the damage already done.
The surgery is complex & long, drs. say I won't survive it. Treatment for me is specialized physical therapy, custom bracing to slow the progression of the disease, and lots & lots of pain management to help with the pain. I’m sorry if I didn't let you know & discuss it with some of you, but I guess talking about it made it real. It's been quite a shock & alot to handle. I'm sorry if I'm not my usual cheery self, but I'm in pain all the time. The hardest part has been losing my independence... not being able to take care of myself, not being able to drive or even walk without help. But I'm still here and as far as I know, will be around for a little while. We'll hire help for next year, but we'll still come to our booth & the show. I wouldn't miss being with all you beautiful people so we can laugh & sometimes cry together... luv Linda with the3rdEyeBoutique
