A NEW CHAPTER FOR BLACK VEIL 🖤

After a lot of careful consideration, we’ve decided that Black Veil is evolving.

When we launched Black Veil Bridal Studio, the name represented exactly what we wanted to create: an alternative bridal space for people who have never quite seen themselves reflected in the traditional wedding industry.

What we didn’t anticipate was how frequently our name would be associated with Black Veil Brides — a band I was actually unfamiliar with when our brand was created.

We both exist within alternative communities, so naturally there is some crossover in audience and aesthetic. And while we appreciate the band, their music, and the incredibly passionate community surrounding them, over time we’ve realized that more and more attention has shifted toward the perceived connection between our names rather than toward the work we are actually creating.

This isn’t a new consideration for us. We’ve been discussing how to further differentiate ourselves since those comparisons first began.

We want people to find Black Veil because of the gowns. The veils. The art. The strange ideas. The dramatic silhouettes. The black wedding dresses. The unconventional brides, grooms and nearlyweds who deserve a space where they don’t have to tone themselves down to get married.

We want our identity to belong completely to the world we are building.

For that same reason, we have also chosen to remove the Cameo we recently shared from Andy Biersack. We genuinely appreciated his congratulations and had a lot of fun receiving and sharing it. However, despite our attempts to clearly state that there was no affiliation between us, we feel that sharing the video ultimately created more confusion around that distinction.

It was a cool moment. We appreciated it. And now we’re switching gears.

Over the next few months, we will begin transitioning from Black Veil Bridal Studio into:

BLACK VEIL ALTERWED ATELIER

Is it quite as immediately simple or smooth as our original name? Maybe not. 😂 But the more we sat with it, the more it felt like us.

ALTERWED represents what we’re actually trying to do — take an industry built around tradition and create another path for the people who were never interested in following it.

And ATELIER reflects what Black Veil has increasingly become: not simply a bridal boutique, but a design studio where ideas are sketched, altered, customized, constructed and turned into something deeply personal.

Black Veil isn’t disappearing.

We’re defining it.

Our aesthetic isn’t changing.
Our designs aren’t changing.
Our commitment to alternative bridal isn’t changing.

If anything, we’re leaning further into it.

Thank you to everyone who has found us, supported us, ordered from us, shared our work, visited the studio, or simply followed along while we figure out what this strange little corner of the bridal world can become.

Welcome to the next evolution of Black Veil.

One of our newest Black Veil Bridal Studio originals is officially in production. 🖤

Over the past few months, I’ve shared that one of my biggest goals for the studio is to gradually shift more and more of our focus toward our own exclusive designs. While we’ll still continue to carry a carefully curated selection of private label gowns that I truly love (alongside our older designs), my heart has always been in creating more original pieces from the ground up.

This design is yet another step towards that vision.

Watching these illustrations become real gowns has been one of the most exciting parts of building Black Veil Bridal Studio, and I can’t wait to share more of this growing collection as each new design moves from sketch to production.

Thank you all for supporting this dream and for giving us the opportunity to create something truly unique. 🖤

As we’re getting everything finished up for the studio, I realized I should probably explain what Black Veil Bridal Studio actually is.

If you’re expecting a traditional bridal boutique with hundreds of dresses from different designers, that’s honestly not what we’re building.

We’ll absolutely have dresses here to try on, and we’re working hard to be as size-inclusive as possible. Since we’re a small independent business, our sample collection will naturally be smaller than what you’d find at a large retailer. You’ll find a mix of our own original designs alongside carefully selected private label styles.

More than anything, though, this is a design studio.

The goal is for you to see the dresses in person, feel fabrics, compare lace and appliqués, explore color options, and figure out exactly what you want before placing your order. Whether you choose one of our existing designs or customize it into something uniquely yours, that’s what this space is for.

As we continue to grow, our focus is shifting more and more toward our own collections and expanding what we’re able to customize. I’d rather fill the studio with designs we’ve created, beautiful materials, and inspiration than rows of dresses with someone else’s label inside.

This won’t be the right fit for everyone, and that’s okay. But if you’ve always wanted a more personal, collaborative experience instead of simply shopping for a dress, I think you’re going to love what we’re building.

Thank you to everyone who’s supported us so far. This is just the beginning. 🖤

We’re getting there. 🖤

It honestly still feels like we have a million things left to do before we can officially open, but we’re getting closer every day.

I also just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has already booked an appointment with us. The amount of support we’ve received has honestly been a little overwhelming in the best way.

Because of that, our inbox has gotten a little out of control. 😅 Between emails, custom dress inquiries, messages, and everything else, I’m doing my best to work through every single one. If you’ve been waiting on a response, I promise I haven’t forgotten about you.

We’re actually starting to look at bringing on some extra help because I never expected things to take off this quickly.

Thank you all for sticking with us while we get everything ready. I know the wait isn’t always ideal, but I genuinely appreciate everyone’s patience. I can’t wait to finally open the doors and meet so many of you in person. 🖤

🖤 Friday night was one of those reminders of why community matters. 🖤

A huge thank you to the amazing team at Fairytale Bridal Society for inviting me out to a collaboration meeting and giving me the opportunity to connect with so many talented local seamstresses and bridal professionals. It was incredible to spend the evening sharing ideas, talking shop, and exploring ways we can work together to strengthen and grow the bridal industry right here in our area.

As someone who is passionate about supporting other small businesses and creatives, it was inspiring to be in a room full of people who genuinely want to see each other succeed. I’m excited to see what opportunities and collaborations come from these conversations and how we can continue creating something special for brides throughout the Tri-State area.

If you’re local to Huntington—or even if you’re willing to travel for your dream dress—I highly recommend checking out Fairytale Bridal Society. They have created a beautiful space and are doing wonderful things for brides in our community.

I also brought along a few Black Veil Bridal Studio gowns for everyone to see 🖤 Pictured here is a group photo of us trying on the beautiful sample dresses at fairytale bridal society followed by one of the talented seamstresses modeling our Myrleen gown. Seeing other bridal professionals appreciate the craftsmanship and details that go into these designs was such a rewarding experience.

Here’s to collaboration over competition and building something amazing together. 🖤

Thank you all so much for the sudden attention this week. 🖤

It definitely was not what we expected, or exactly how we expected it, but we’re grateful for every new person who has found us through it and stuck with us 🖤

That said, we’d love to bring the focus back to what we are actually here for: creating unique, custom wedding pieces for brides who want something that feels true to them.

This newly finished custom black wedding dress was made for one of our amazing brides, based on the inspiration she sent over, and we are so excited to finally see it come to life.

Every bride deserves to feel seen, celebrated, and completely herself on her wedding day — whether that means black, gothic, romantic, dramatic, soft, sparkly, or anything in between.

Thank you for being here, and thank you for supporting alternative bridal. 🖤
