Saving Vintage

Hello friends!

As most of you know, I closed my antique/vintage shop 5 years ago to move my mom into the house due to her declining health. For most of that time, she did pretty well. However, in the last year or so, it has been more difficult to meet her needs, even with the help of several caregivers. During the last six months, she further declined and in late March I had to call an ambulance 3 times in 4 days. Needless to say, it has been a rough and trying time. We ended up having to place her in a skilled nursing facility recently. She seems to be doing very well there and it is a huge relief to know that she is being monitored and cared for around the clock.

That being said, we are having a living estate sale on August 21-22 at my former shop location. The prices are guaranteed to not be beat! There is some furniture and a lot of smalls that are actually more like yard sale prices. My daughters and I cleaned out our closets too and I will be posting pics as the time draws nearer.

As for what we will do with our beloved COTTAGE after the sale, well….I have some very hopeful and exciting plans; however, I am trusting in God’s guidance as we go further down that road. We shall see! 😊🤞

Hello friends! You know you’ve had fun in the Amish Country when you have to rent a U-Haul to bring home the goodies! 😍

We finally got to get away for a weekend of R&R and it’s been SO FUN to get out pickin again! It’s been a while since I’ve been in touch and we have some news to share very soon. Stay tuned!

“The Day Before the Fourth”
Tomorrow,
the sky will fill with fireworks.

Flags will wave.

Children will run barefoot through the grass
with sparklers in their hands.

Families will gather around picnic tables,
sharing stories,
passing plates,
and making memories they’ll someday miss.

But today…

Before the celebration begins,

I hope we pause.

I hope we remember
that freedom is easy to overlook
when you’ve never had to live without it.

The freedom to gather.

The freedom to worship.

The freedom to speak.

The freedom to raise our children
according to our convictions.

The freedom to dream,
to build,
to begin again.

None of those are guaranteed everywhere.

And none of them came without sacrifice.

So before the fireworks drown out the silence,

Take a moment.

Look at the flag.

Say a prayer for those who have served.

Hold your family a little closer.

Thank God for the ordinary blessings
that have become so familiar
we barely notice them anymore.

America has never been perfect.

But gratitude doesn’t require perfection.

It simply requires remembering.

So tonight,
as the sun sets on the eve of Independence Day,

May our hearts be filled with humility.

May our homes be filled with laughter.

And may we never forget
that freedom is one of the greatest gifts
we’ve ever been given.

Happy Fourth of July Eve.

May tomorrow be more than a celebration.

May it be a day of gratitude.

We came into a Burger King for lunch in KY today and saw this display as soon as we walked in. Such a moving reminder of the sacrifices that have been made for our freedom.
