A reminder about donations — and unfortunately, I need to be very direct about this.
First, I am incredibly appreciative of the people who support Lotus Thrift by donating clean, usable items. Your donations are what allow me to do what I do, and I truly appreciate them. ❤️
However, leaving donations outside when donations are closed needs to stop.
The bags pictured here were left in the rain, directly beside a sign stating that donations are closed and asking that items not be left after hours. By the time I found them, they were wet and had to be thrown away.
When items are left outside, I have no control over the weather, animals, or people going through them and scattering things around the property. What may have started as a usable donation can quickly become garbage that I then have to clean up and pay to dispose of.
I also regularly receive bags that have clearly been through rain and weather. If items are already wet, dirty, ruined, mildewed, or otherwise unusable, please do not donate them. I cannot sell them, and Lotus Thrift cannot serve as a disposal service for items that need to be thrown away.
Donations are accepted only during posted donation hours. If the sign says donations are closed, please take your items back with you and return when donations are being accepted. Do not leave them beside the sign, the building, or anywhere else on the property.
Every hour I spend cleaning up dumped items and every dollar I spend on additional trash disposal takes time and resources away from the business.
To everyone who takes the time to bring clean, usable donations during the appropriate hours: THANK YOU. You are appreciated more than you know. ❤️
I simply need everyone else to respect the same boundaries.
If you wouldn’t want it sitting in your yard in the rain, please don’t leave it sitting in mine.
