Papel picado en la Calle is so much more than art. Its visibility of Latinx, Hispanic and Latino in City of Indianapolis, its cultural representation in the arts & humanities for an underrepresented community that continues to be excluded from most sectors of society.
Today I held a workshop with the Indy INRC and once again, it felt like I was the only Latina in the room. Marion County has the largest Latino population in Indiana yet there is little to no representation among these organizations that hold themselves as inclusive. We are your neighbors and have been for generations.
