A Creative Journey, Stitched Together ✨
Every quilter has a beginning… ours just happened to involve a little sisterly trickery.

Jackie’s Start
When Jackie’s youngest got his driver’s license, she suddenly had free time and thought, “I’ll make a quilt like Gramma did!”
That moment grew into 26 years of quilting, teaching, and longarm quilting more than 4,000 quilts.

Dorene’s Start
Dorene was an artist who said, “I don’t make quilts. I make art.”
So Jackie tricked her during a birthday weekend — telling her to pick fabrics for a “tablecloth.”
That “tablecloth” was actually Quilting 101… and it changed everything.

Dorene soon joined Jackie’s quilting camp, discovered the art in quilting, and built her own creative business teaching, lecturing, and helping makers with branding and visual identity.

Two Sisters → Two Quiltpreneurs
Different paths, same mission: helping quilters turn passion into possibility.

💛 Joy in the Journey,

·
When you first start whispering the idea of a quilting business out loud, you’ll meet three kinds of people.

First, there’s Bonnie.

Bonnie means well… but she’s a naysayer by nature.

She’ll say things like, “You can’t do that. Longarms cost too much. There are already so many quilters. You’ll never get enough customers.”
Bonnie’s words feel heavy, like someone draping a wet quilt over your shoulders.

Then there’s Doubting Tammy.

Tammy isn’t negative — she’s just unsure.
She’ll ask questions that sound practical but leave you second‑guessing yourself:
“What if you don’t find students?”
“What if your pricing is wrong?”
“What if people don’t like your quilts?”
Tammy doesn’t mean to discourage you… but she sure knows how to stack obstacles.

And then — thank goodness — there’s EmmaLou.

EmmaLou lights up the moment you share your dream.
She leans in with a smile and says, “Oh sweetheart, you’d be wonderful at this.”
She gives you ideas, reminds you of your talent, and helps you see what’s possible.
EmmaLou is the kind of woman who believes in you before you believe in yourself.
Here’s the part most quilters don’t know:
Jackie and Dorene have met all three of these women too.
They’ve heard the Bonnies.
They’ve navigated the Tammys.
And they kept going anyway.
That’s why they can be your EmmaLou — the voice that says, “You can do this, and we’ll help you every step of the way.”
At Quilting Business Academy, we’re in your corner.
We’ve walked this road.
And we believe you can build something beautiful.
Which one have you met most often on your quilting business journey?
