In the fiber arts community, there is often a hierarchy of yarn: some are considered "good" and others "bad" based on texture, thickness, shape, fiber content, or personal preference. I love "bad" yarn, especially finding unique or weird yarns with interesting textures and frills. This collection showcases how "bad" yarn can be transformed into works of art. Months of behind the scenes work went into making this fashion show happen last month. And last minute, I decided to be a model and walk in the show to be sure my whole collection was shown. What an amazing experience and such a dream come true! Huge thank you to all the models because it's so much harder than it looks! No Bad Yarn #8: Queen
This is the design that started it all! Queen is a COMPLETELY HANDMADE gown. In addition to designing slow fashion, I also make handmade art yarn, . So I decided to make myself custom art yarn to design with. First, I hand-dyed wool roving from into a huge rainbow colorway. Once I had my rainbow of hand-dyed wool, I hand-spun all of the colors into yarn on my spinning wheel. Once I hand-spun almost 700 yards of rainbow art yarn, I started knitting and freehand designing this gorgeous gown! Thanks again to for the chance to showcase this masterpiece!
