Big official launch tomorrow for the Hoka Clifton Pro!

I've only just started to run in them, so time will tell how they feel, but I can say I do like the initial fit and feel a lot more than the regular Clifton. Come check them out tomorrow in Ithaca and Syracuse!

The new ASICS Running Novablast 6 makes its way into both shops today!!

A new forefoot cushion of FF Turbo^2 up front adds some extra pep to your step, and a slightly different upper/tongue that feels even better on my foot than v5 somehow. To my feet, it’s a bit more reigned in as far as softness goes, but that’s no complaint on my end. I feel like it took me 10-20 miles to get comfy with them, and it was a similar case for the new Superblast 3, so excited to try them out!

Tbd if I’ll run in them pre-Boilermaker or if I can run without achilles pain post-Boilermaker, but I’ll get to them eventually!

Our Syracuse location will be closed tomorrow, so plan accordingly! Ithaca will still be open for regular hours (10am to 6pm) tomorrow, so a good excuse to get over there for a day out before some afternoon and evening festivities.

On the topic of evening festivities, I also wanted to remind everyone to be safe and smart driving tomorrow evening. Peak crash times are around 9pm and 12am, and NY has seen 25% of fatal accidents involved alcohol impaired drivers on prior 4th of July's.

So, be safe and wear some sunscreen! Happy 4th!

Some more core sizes of the ASICS Running Metaspeed Edge, and just in time for the Caz 5k/10miler this Saturday!

After a bit of feedback on colorways, the red and purple seems to be the strongest of the three, so that’s what I went with this time. I haven’t decided yet, but I’ll most likely have something different than the usual 10-6, so be on the lookout for our July 4th hours post soon!!

A minor update to a big (wide?) shoe; the Escalante 5!

Minor updates to a great do-it-all shoe, but mainly sees the tongue get a bit softer, slight improvement to the outsole rubber coverage, and a sleek new upper design. These have been a go to for me in the shop, and while my achilles won't let me run in them comfortably, I do love them for everything else.

We’ve got a semi-weird but long awaited one on deck, the Topo Athletic Connect!

The Connect is one of a handful of traditional minimalist shoes left in the sneaker market, while we’re in the midst of the Foam Wars between brands. Per Topo’s specs, it has a whisper thin 10.5mm platform, which can be taken down to a 5.5mm platform when you remove the sockliner.

For our mid-year update on sales figures, Topo looks like our number 1 brand again in Ithaca, and is inside the top 5 so far in Syracuse. More on that in the next newsletter post (probably this week), but I’m hopeful we can satisfy some of the requests we’ve had over the last few seasons for a more traditional barefoot shoe.

Back at the Westrott after chatting with the Lake Effect group last Monday!!

9 out of the 9 cats and dogs I surveyed agree it’s the best run club from 110 Harvard Place at 6:30pm on a Monday, so you should be there tomorrow!

Two new ASICS Running Superblast 3 colorways added to the shop, and the Megablast makes its way in for the first time!

Long-time cool-guy, Hunter, just said last weekend that the Megablast is one of his favorite models to do it all in. After trying it back on again, it’s kind of what I thought the Superblast 2 would feel like. A tad softer than Superblast 2, more nimble than v3, but fairly stable for the cushion it has. Really excited for this one!

That blue/green colorway is better than I thought in person, and the white just goes with everything obviously (even if they’ll get a little dirty)!

Be right back as I try to fit some more stuff on the walls!

Slightly less new than the Wave Rider 30s from yesterday, but still a good one! The Mizuno Running USA Neo Zen 2!

To me, it’s rare for a version 2 model to have noticed improvements outside of an upper change/redesign. However, similar to the Vista 3 update, I feel like this one is noticeably more stable and more runnable for me in addition to a better fitting upper on my foot (they also pair pretty well with the Vista colorways too).

Although it was a spring update, we’re glad to see it find its way to the store. Next year looks even better for Mizuno and I don’t know how that’s even possible, but I’m really excited for the direction!
