Please welcome another one of our newest East River Doula Collective members, Kalifa!

Kalifa offers a calm, intuitive, and deeply grounding presence as a birth and postpartum doula. Her work is rooted in connection—taking the time to truly understand each client’s needs, rhythms, and desires so they can move through pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood feeling supported, informed, and held.

You can find Kalifa's professional bio on our website, but here are some fun facts you might not otherwise know about her:

Q: When are you most inspired?
A: I'm most inspired after supporting a birth or spending time with a postpartum family. Seeing parents become more confident and settle into their new roles is the best feeling.

Q: What's your happy place?
A: At the beach with a cup of tea. I love being near the water—it helps me slow down and recharge.

Q: If you could buy any type of food right now, what would it be?
A: A big bowl of pho or ramen. I love warm, comforting, flavorful foods, especially anything with a rich broth.

Q: What's your favorite beverage?
A: Tea! I always have a cup of tea, especially in the evenings.

Q: How do you manage stress?
A: I like going for a walk, spending time at the beach, making a cup of tea, or just taking some quiet time to myself.

Q: What's the best compliment you've ever received?
A: When someone tells me they felt safe and supported because of me. Knowing I made a difference during such an important time in their life means everything.

Q: What do you find beautiful?
A: I find genuine kindness beautiful. The little ways people care for and support each other can make such a big impact.

Q: Biggest strength?
A: I'd say my biggest strength is being compassionate. I'm a good listener, I stay calm under pressure, and I love helping people feel comfortable and cared for.

Please welcome with us one of our newest members of East River Doula Collective, Genevieve!

Genevieve is a birth doula devoted exclusively to supporting women through unmedicated, physiological birth. She trained under Debra Pascali-Bonaro, creator of Or****ic Birth, and brings a rare blend of evidence-based birth knowledge, feminine embodiment, and trauma-informed care to the families she serves.

Genevieve’s work centers on protecting the physiology of birth, supporting intuitive decision-making, and helping women access their inner strength and wisdom. She stands for birth as a powerful, transformative rite of passage and is devoted to helping mothers cross that threshold with confidence, dignity, and deep trust in their bodies.

You can find Genevieve's professional bio on our website, but here are some fun facts you might not otherwise know about her:

Q: When are you most inspired?
A: I am most inspired when I am dancing or walking alone in the city. I love to be around people, quietly reflecting on my life, their lives, and life itself.

Q: What do you find beautiful?
A: I've always found love and families so beautiful. I could look at two people in love and their beautiful children for hours, not needing to say or do anything. To me, it feels like heaven on Earth.

Q: What's your favorite beverage?
A: I think I have an actual addiction to macadamia milk matcha lattes, at least, that's what my 10 year old would say!

Q: What does creativity mean to you?
A: Feeling alive in yourself, able to trust that small, still voice within and trust where your body wants to go.

Q: Biggest strength?
A: I have a tremendous capacity to think clearly and remain calm under stressful, chaotic situations. I do not get looped up into them and often find myself in a leadership position when everyone else is losing their minds, often finding fearlessness in myself that I did not know that I had. This is an excellent strength for birth work!

Expectant parents, we'd love for you to join us for our free, virtual MEET THE DOULAS event Wed 5/27 @ 6:30 pm on Zoom to meet some birth and postpartum doulas who are available to provide compassionate, expert support & advocacy for you to experience the happiest, healthiest rite of passage through birth & postpartum!

After you RSVP, we'll send you a complete list of the doulas available for your due month along with their profiles and rates, and an informational video (which is also on our homepage) that will answer a lot of your Qs.

For the event, you'll be assigned to meet for a few minutes with one or more doulas who are available for your due time in breakout rooms, speed-dating style.

Even if you've never heard of doulas and would just like to learn more, you're welcome to come for an informational interview/Q&A! (We'll give you a few ideas of things you could ask if you don't know where to start.)

Or if you're sold on the benefits of doula support but partner isn't just yet (common!), join us here (and/or in birth class) and it'll convince them you've had a brilliant idea. 😉

RSVP at eastriverdoulas.nyc or DM us with questions.

PS You can also reach out to us anytime for 1:1 help exploring your options, if you prefer.
