I just wanted to share a little something that I didn’t mention in my post yesterday. 🩷
When I posted the Dolly shirts, I didn’t include this in the Facebook post itself, but it has been in the description on my website from the beginning: a portion of the proceeds from every Dolly shirt sold will be donated to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. 📚✨
I was able to make my first donation today, and that made these shirts a little more special to me.
The Imagination Library has been a part of our family for TEN YEARS. My children have grown up getting those little books in the mail. At this point, we have shelves full of them, duplicates of some, and so many memories attached to those books. 😂🩷 It is truly a program that our family has personally benefited from and loved for years.
I’ve seen a lot of opinions about people selling Dolly shirts and merchandise right now, and I completely understand that everyone is going to feel differently about it. I also believe every business owner has to make the decision that feels right for them.
For me, I knew that if I was going to offer these shirts, I wanted a portion to go right back into something Dolly created that has given so much to children including my own.
I’m not sharing this for a pat on the back or to say that my choice is better than anyone else’s. I just wanted those who purchased from me to know that your order is doing a little more than buying a shirt. It’s helping put books into the hands of more babies and children. 🥹📚
And maybe it’s also a little reminder that not everything you see being sold on Facebook has bad intentions behind it. Sometimes there’s a little more to the story than what fits into a sales post. 😉🩷
Thank you to everyone who ordered, and thank you, Dolly, for creating something that has been such a sweet part of our family for the last decade. 🦋📚🩷
