Prom and wedding season is fast approaching and The Tailor's Corner is preparing for a banner year!

We are one of very few alterations and sewing shops left in Jackson County so we encourage you to schedule your appointments for prom, bridesmaids, mothers-of, and other formal gowns and dresses ASAP before pur slots fill up.

We DO NOT accept walk-ins for formal gowns. Without an appointment, we can't save the space on our calendar for you. Make sure you fill out all the requested info boxes so we can schedule you appropriately.

We regret to inform that we no longer do bridal gown alterations, but we recommend Sewing By Karen as an alternative.

We also alter men's suits and tuxedos, no appointment necessary. Don't wait until the last minute on those either though--our schedule fills up quickly for those too!

If you're a Tailor's Corner customer who's struggling to park right now, you're not alone. This was dropped in front of our only access to our parking lot Monday night. We called the city DPW manager shortly after. It was still there yesterday afternoon and this morning. The equipment is parked in all of the Wesley St. parking as well, so we only have the front single space on Mechanic St and any spaces in front of St. Mary's.

If you can't find parking but want to go in, here's a few things you can do:
1.) Don't come during our busiest hours: 11-1pm, or 3-4:30pm. Shoot for early morning or mid afternoon.
2.) Call the city DPW and tell them you can't access our parking lot because there's a roll of pipe laying across the entrance on Wesley St. Here's their number: 517-788-4170. They obviously don't care about our calls, but they may care about yours.

Thank you for tolerating this interruption to our normal flow of business. If you like and share, perhaps the right people will see it and solve this very simple issue.

The Tailor's Corner downtown is holding our innaugural house plant cutting sale! We take cuttings and propagations from our shop collection, root in water and established in soil.

Sale runs from 10am to 3pm at the shop.

Prices start at $1 and nothing is over $15. Most are priced between $3-$6.
We have a mix of cacti, succulents, euphorbias, rhipsalis, pothos, philodendron, monstera, and more. Almost all the mother plants are available for viewing.

Bring your own cardboard box or basket for transport, we have a super limited amount.

Located 1 block south of Washington Ave on Mechanic St, the red door across from St. Mary's church.

Due to an injury to one of our staff that will prevent fittings, new wedding gown alterations are currently on hold. If you have an appointment already, your appointment and alterations will be honored.

Bridesmaid, Mothers Of gowns, flower girls, etc are still fine to schedule through our normal channels. Wedding gowns may resume by October, depending on recovery. Please be patient with us while we work out the details and recover successfully. Simple repairs like broken zippers or uncomplicated strap alterations may be possible,but please call during business hours to confirm. We want to provide you with the best possible work.

The Tailor's Corner is taking our yearly summer break starting Monday, 7/29 and we'll be closed for business and out of the state for 2 weeks until Monday, 8/12.

If you have items in the shop that you'll need during that time, please plan on picking up by Friday, 7/26. There will not be anyone in town to open the shop to help you. If you need an after-hours pick up, please text or call during open hours to schedule. 517.788.9881

Look for open days to schedule and please plan on a 2 week+ turnaround. We will notify you if your requested appointment is not possible. Scheduling now will help prevent that issue.

We will not be available to answer questions, messages, or troubleshooting. This is our unplugged break and resting makes us better at our jobs.

We're closed Friday 7/5 for the holiday. You can always find our updated hours and holidays on our Google listing, as well as the "Book Online" button to schedule formal gown fitting appointments. See you Monday, 7/8!

Our yearly summer break is 2 weeks this year, starting Monday, July 29 until we re-open Monday, August 12. Please plan ahead now to pick up before we close & head out of state. We're working hard to get all the early August wedding stuff done, but we have space to do your last minute normal clothing alterations & repairs, especially if you come in next week.

Some custom zippered cushion covers from a couple years ago. We can re-cover your outdoor or indoor individual cushions or create new pillow covers to throw a pop of color into your bedroom or living room. Prices depend on the fabric, the difficulty of the shape, the size, & the time it takes. They generally run between $25-$40 per cushion with zippers.

Currently we're deep in prom season, but after May 18, we'll be able to take more work like this. To do it, we'll need you to provide the fabric, make sure it's pre-laundered per the instructions from the manufacturer, and have you bring the cushions or pillow forms you'd like to have covered so we can check the fit. We provide the zippers and any piping.

If you need assistance calculating yardage, call us any time we're open. Mon, Tue, Wed, & Fri 9am-5pm, closed Thu & Weekends.

We should note that we don't do full upholstery recovering work, but we can recommend an upholsterer here in Jackson.

Plan ahead to avoid disappointment--we have already closed the appointments for Michigan Center prom on 4/27, and we are -very- close to closing 5/3 for Lumen Christi & 5/4 for Northwest & Western proms. We will take everyone we can until next Tuesday.

***We can not take walk-in appointments for prom dresses***

Wedding-related dress fitting appointments are also available through the link above. We can not fit any wedding related gowns until after May 11 for pick-up, due to proms. Any appointments for weddings during those weekends will be canceled, unfortunately. We may be able to work in small repairs like zipper retracks or strap adjustments or minor repairs--please call for that.

Suits and tuxedos do not require an appointment. Pant hems only for 4/27 proms are still possible if you come in Friday 4/19 or Monday 4/22.
