I know, I know... I didn't post yesterday.

I was in recovery.

Moving your baby into a (3rd floor) apartment 8 hours away to live for the next year is exhausting in all kinds of ways. 🥹

I think we're okay today. I made it home in one piece. Orientation was a success. Friends are already being family. Classes begin today. And I have plans to do a bit of a reset in the Jackson shop today!

Changes can be exciting...even when they're big or overwhelming! I don't anticipate this change bring overwhelming... But I think y'all will love it and I can't wait to show y'all what we've got for you!

Just as I suspected... The week is flying and I'm not sure there's enough time for all the things...but we sure are trying!

I was in the Jackson shop yesterday but as soon as we closed for the day, Lili and I finished loading the van for her trek to Alabama for grad school!! (What in the world?! 🥹🤩) Pitstopping in Tennessee to see her college roommate and friends for the day before getting settled in her apartment this weekend.

So, yeah... I'm gone again. 😅
Scott has a handle on Marble Hill and Wendy is taking care of Jackson! Y'all are in good hands!

Both shops are loaded and ready for y'all to dig up the treasures you didn't even know you were looking for! Open 10am-4pm today!

Can we just take a moment to appreciate Scott and all he does to keep things running around here?

I don't say it enough, but it wouldn't happen without him lots of days. He covers the shops when I go off to sing or go to church camp or hang out with friends when they get a layover in St Louis... And he doesn't even fuss about it.

AND he finds really cool pieces for y'all too! All the pieces in today's post are Scott finds... Some from auctions others individually purchased, all without my input.

I'm DIGGIN' the framed pieces...and those hanging lights are 🤩🤩!

If you're out and about in Marble Hill this week (he'll be there every single day), make sure you give Scott a pat on the back...or a handshake...or better yet, buy one of the pieces he picked out. (Trust me...that's a good feeling when someone else loves something you found! 😉)

I'll be in Jackson today if you're out and about Uptown!

Both shops open 10am-4pm.

In honor of all our local kiddos heading back to school... Rubye got a rad 80s makeover yesterday...and she is totally ready to welcome y'all to the Jackson shop!

❤️Dress: my little sister, Amy's (pretty sure she wore this in her senior pictures...she had the best taste in dresses! 🤩)
🖤Jacket: mine (my parents SPLURGED on this for me junior year... "Jackson Marching Chiefs"... I thought it was WAY cooler than any letter jacket ever would've been!)
❤️Pom pom: also mine...closest I ever got to cheerleading 😂 (I think it was a giveaway at one of the football games or something)
🖤Hair: courtesy of Lili (she won this wig...and it couldn't complete this throwback look any better!)

I think this is going to be one of those short long weeks that's so full you don't know what day it is until next week.

I try to sit down on Sunday afternoon and flip through tags...partly to divvy up everyone's sales for the week, partly to look at what area may need to be reworked or refilled. But also, I like to be reminded of the items that went to Newfound homes... And the friends who took those items home.

Looking back at this week makes me smile at some of the treasures that left the shops to bring joy into your homes. Some have been shuffled from one spot to another and from one shop to the other for months... A couple of items have been in and out of displays for well over a year.
✨The right person finally chose a set of Indian Summer Corelle dishes (that I *just about* brought home to keep last week).
✨My FAVORITE plastic 70s floral box purse from when we FIRST opened the Jackson shop in February 2025... will now be an amazing office organizer/decoration after being discovered by a sweet gal who loves that purse as much as I did!
✨Y'all... someone finally discovered the beautiful folding sewing rocker that I have literally had since I rented a booth in Old Lutesville Emporium... More than two years ago! I almost cried when we found it in a storage unit. I could cry now that it has found a new home.

Other things haven't necessarily sat forever, but they have memorable "take home" stories...
✨Danielle only needed the big yellow Pyrex nesting bowl and not a whole set... Perfect! I had that!
✨Sheila messaged, wondering if I had a square clear glass pedestal cake plate for a friend. I did... exactly what she was looking for!
✨A SEMO student was looking for a spoon rest for her apartment. I didn't have one, but she found a perfect little leaf dish (that will do the trick!)...and measuring cup, and cereal bowls. 😊

Although we didn't find exactly what she was looking for (for her future daughter-in-law's wedding shower), my long-lost friend and neighbor growing up, Debbie and I reconnected after a solid 40 years. All I did was say my name is Joy... And she knew. We connected those dots right quick and spent the next 20 minutes hoping her husband was still shopping up the street while we caught up! 😊

Speaking of Joy, the week was filled with it... And the cherry on top?
Visiting with some Newfound friends as they discovered fall in Uptown Jackson... They asked my name. I told them it's Joy and they gasped. ALL THREE OF THEM ARE ALSO JOYS!! (Middle names, but it totally counts and so we HAD to get a selfie!) 🥰

Y'all... I love looking back on our days together. Thank you for finding joy in...and bringing joy to... the shops. Happy Monday! 💚
