What if one of your greatest strengths started as a survival strategy?

For years, I thought independence was simply who I was.

The more I understand the adaptations I developed to navigate life, the more I realize some of the things I called strengths may have begun as ways of staying safe.

Sometimes that's confidence.

Sometimes it's an adaptation.

Many of us learned very early that needing help felt uncomfortable, risky, or disappointing.

So we became capable.
Independent.
Self-sufficient.

The challenge is that the strategies that once protected us can sometimes keep us disconnected.
