the us army has entered the “put a robot shotgun on the f-250” portion of the modernization chat.

during project sandhills 2.0 at fort bragg, the army tested a driver optional f250 equipped with forterra’s autonomous breaching system and 9 mothers’ edda, a computer controlled 12-gauge turret designed to remove small drones from the local airspace through the ancient american tradition of buckshot.

pentagon:

“semi autonomous counter uas protection for unmanned breaching operations.”

translation:

the truck drives itself toward the minefield while the robot shotgun starts s***t shooting temu reconnaissance drones.

a human gunner controls the system remotely, meaning we have successfully reinvented the , except now it has software updates, cybersecurity requirements, and a program manager making $184k a year off of it.

ford also clarified they had nothing to do with this, obviously.

some defense contractor simply bought an f-250 and started bolting weapons and computers onto it, duh.

which may be the most american acquisition strategy we’ve seen in years.
