This is one of my favorites, the Butterflies. They gained a huge popularity during and after the great Depression as a symbol of hope. This top is in new condition and I still hope to quilt it someday. I completely love the old fabrics and I've included some close-ups.

Another vintage Double Wedding Ring quilt top. The close-ups show the fabrics, many of which I believe are feed sacks. Even the muslin is heavy and coarse, so perhaps it came from a sack also. All hand stitched with tiny stitches. I have no recollection of where this one came from.

Weather is not cooperating to hang quilts on the porch today. So, I made Peanut Butter Bread. Recipe came from a 1932 cook book, uses no eggs and only oil is the peanut butter. I put strawberry jam on it with a dish of yogurt and instant breakfast.

This top was given to me by Wynette Hyatt, Centralia, WA approximately 15 years ago. All the Double Wedding Rings I've seen were made with 1930/40's fabrics. This one is 1800!s right down to shorting prints and that wonderful cheddar color. All hand pieced and materials in good condition.
