Did I ever think I’d be standing in Leadville, Colorado helping time one of the most iconic races in the world?

No way.

This weekend I got the opportunity to be the right hand man for one of my best friends as we helped time the Leadville Trail 100.

100 miles. Thousands of people involved. An entire mountain town built around getting runners from a starting line, over Hope Pass, and back again.

And somehow, Runaround got to play a small part in it.

When we started Runaround, I had no idea where this business would take us. We just loved running, loved our community, and wanted to build something around it.

Over the years that has turned into putting on races, timing events, hauling equipment all over the place, working ridiculous hours, solving problems on the fly and getting a front-row seat to some pretty incredible moments in this sport.

This weekend was one of those moments.

Standing under that Leadville finish line, next to one of my best friends, it was hard not to stop for a second and think:

How freaking cool is this?

Running has given me and Runaround far more than I ever could have imagined.

Pretty grateful to still be along for the ride.

We have a lot more photos from the Runaround XC Festival and wanted to get them out there for athletes, parents and teams to find, save and share.

And now that the season is getting started, a quick reminder: take care of your feet and your body.

The right shoe matters. Come see us, get properly fit, try some things on and let us help you find what works for YOU. That’s what we’re here for.

Last night was exactly why we do this.

Schools from across the area. Hundreds of athletes, coaches and parents. Kids running together, trying new shoes, winning some stuff, hanging out with their competition and getting excited about another cross country season.

That’s what we hoped the Runaround Cross Country Festival could be.

A huge thank you to Blaine for putting a ton of work into making this happen. There are a lot of details behind an event like this that nobody ever sees, and he worked hard to create a night that was really about the kids and the sport.

And thank you to every school, coach, parent, athlete and brand that showed up and made it what it was.

We say a lot that Runaround exists to support our local running community. Nights like this are what we mean.

We’re here for the season ahead. We’re here for the athletes. And we’re proud to be your local running store.
