A plus sized robe headed off to Pennsylvania 💕🥹

Due to the size discrepancy between mother’s gown and the robe needed, the base of the robe was made from an ivory satin that matched the color of the original lining. The sleeves and all the lace and beading are from mom’s dress.

As I said in the video, Faviola was super sweet to work with. She came in knowing what she wanted: a dress that fit, off the shoulder strapless and even though it was challenging I think it turned out wonderfully. She looked stunning and so happy at her pick up. Below is a list of operations her gown went through.

This was probably the oldest gown I have worked with and was in the most delicate shape. It had some dry rot happening and was super fragile.

✨cleaning and restoration of color
✨ 16 inches were added to the bodice; 8 inch panels on both sides made from a similar fabric style and color. Since there wasn’t any material to work with from the hem and it being a vintage gown I just went with what I could find to match the best. They were ruched to match and lace was added to the top of the sides to blend.
✨ a entire new liner and inner liner was made with a ton of added boning for support. I felt this was crucial to give the corset back what it needed to protect the original shell fabric. The new liners would get most of the stress and not the delicate, original fabric.
✨ darts were used to manipulate the original straps to become off the shoulder. Using the fabric from the original sleeves, the new sleeves were made.
✨a corset back and modesty panel was made and added to the back.
✨a new matching lace trim was added to the hem.

Yesterday, a truly special piece was sent home to New York ✨

A beautiful robe and bouquet wrap, both thoughtfully created from her mother’s bridal gown 💕

Before beginning the project, I carefully cleaned and restored the fabric to preserve its beauty and get rid of some unwanted stains. My client requested no bows, but wanted to feature the gown’s original flowers, beading, and lace—which I was happy to do.

I also incorporated the gown’s organza butterflies as delicate cutouts, adding both visual interest and also something new 🦋

The bouquet wrap features loops and the original buttons from the gown but can be sized as needed by turning the top edge down on the inside. My client requested no ribbon closures, so this design element adds a little more flexibility which I love.

It’s always an honor to transform meaningful pieces into something new while keeping their story alive.
