Revelation 8 6-13 the First Angel Sounds
Revelation 8:6. And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.
7. The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.
While we are down to the first life, which according to Isaiah 29: 22-23 is Jacob, these are things that can happen in all lives.
Isaiah 29: 22. Therefore this says the Lord, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob, Jacob shall not now be ashamed, neither shall his face now wax pale.
23. But when he sees his children, the work of mine hands, in the midst of him, they shall sanctify my name, and sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and shall fear the God of Israel.
The holy one of Jacob, was Jesus. The first lives probably began as hunter-gathers. They are besieged by damaging hail storms, which still happens today, and there is only one source of security and safety from such events, God, When storms threaten, not just us, but anywhere in the world, we should begin by asking God for protection and safety, for all threatened. Fire, which at the time I wrote this was a threat in the Southwest, is a danger anywhere there are dry conditions and high winds, again the only safety is found in God. When fires threaten, not just us, but anywhere in the world, we should begin by asking God for protection and safety, for all threatened. And to understand that if, as a result of our prayers, rain puts out the fires, God did it, because we cared enough to pray. If it did not rain and their homes were destroyed, it was because God records their lives and deals with them to remove any evil that comes to the forefront of their minds, during the fires, or floods, or tornados, or earthquakes or tsunamis. These are things that have been, they are also things that are, and also the things that will be, until all are taught to pray for their neighbor. Even if that neighbor is on the other side of the world.
8. And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;
9. And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.
When these trials and tribulations happen, each trial and tribulation is based on need, founded in the original sins or in current problems that come from how they have lived or are living their lives. Again the purpose of God is to teach and to reach down into their soul and pull out the hate, anger, resentment, and greed that drive them to disregard the welfare of their neighbor and family. And God, in the form of the Angels who walk among us, is suffering right alongside those who are being Justified. It is obvious that the world still has many souls failing to rise up to the standards set by Jesus, and who are not yet able to be trusted enough to be brought into the Kingdom.
10. And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters;
That great star was not a soul, but the process of Justification. Better known as “judgment by God.”
11. And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.
While this is written in Koine Greek we have to dip back into the Hebrew for a meaning. Strong’s #3939 pronounced laanah from an unused root meaning “to curse;” wormwood; the original meaning is “to drink of satisfaction around here” meaning retribution, or revenge, i.e Justification, as I explained above.
The verse means that at least a third of the world was undergoing judgment for sins, and the water they had “created” was extremely bitter, even to the point of death.
12. And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise.
God is the “light of the world” so the sun and moon are a parable for God. Since a third of the world is undergoing retribution for their sins, God does not shine in their lives.
13. And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, “Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabitants of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!”
