At age 8, I became interested in sewing, fascinated with my mother's ability to pin/cut/sew and transform fabric into clothing and home decor. I wanted to learn this magical ability, so my mother taught me the basics of cutting fabric and using a sewing machine. My grandmother taught me the finer techniques of fitting and customizing a garment. She also gave me an old sewing machine that my grandf

ather had won as a prize at a county fair. I began doing alterations in 1993 when a coworker asked me to "fix" a skirt that had been poorly-altered by a dry-cleaner seamstress. Once the word got around that I could sew, more people requested my services. Before I knew it, I had a little side hustle going. Soon I was doing alterations and making wedding dresses and home decor. When I started showing Arabian horses in the late 1990s, I made my own saddleseat coat, vest, and jodphurs. Again, word about my sewing abilities got around the horse-show circuit. And because custom-fit coats and pants are a show-ring requirement, the horse show industry opened up a whole new market with a huge demand for alterations and repair of high-end show clothing. Showing horses exposed my services to a national market. In 2018, I began setting up my sewing machine at regional and national horse shows where there was a steady flow of clients needing on-site alterations and repairs. And the rest is an almost 30-year history of sewing and altering all kinds of clothing, with a special focus on equestrian apparel.

Correction: I won’t be at the Lake Saint Louis show this weekend (sorry I had a change of plans) but I will have a booth at the Tulsa show coming up at the end of March.
For those in Springfield MO who needed alterations for the St Louis show, rest assured I am delivering your garments today!

Today (Thursday) will be my last day at the Scottsdale show.
Thanks to all my loyal clients telling others about me, I now have new clients in the Morgan and Saddlebred breeds. So I have a closet full of alterations at home to prepare for 3 upcoming horse shows in March.
Come and see me before 3pm today if you need a consultation.
Sorry I can’t stay in AZ for the last weekend. I can do FaceTime fittings and I ship nationwide….contact me if you need anything!
