Established in 2022 by Courtnie Ross, LoveStoned is a trendy, eclectic, and alternative boutique located in the Crossroads Arts District in Kansas City, Missouri. Shaped by Courtnie’s love of luxe alternative style, LoveStoned puts an emphasis on celebrating current trends as well as nostalgia. LoveStoned focuses on aesthetics such as early 2000's (aka "Y2K"), femme fatale, dopamine dressing, avan

t-garde, street style, and barbiecore. LoveStoned seeks to source through ethically produced, vegan, BIPOC-owned, women-owned, and LGBTQ-owned brands and makers. LoveStoned also focuses on inclusive sizing and affordability without losing quality. LoveStoned operates in-person in Kansas City, as well as internationally online. The physical location of the store is 1515 Walnut Street, Kansas City MO 64108. Courtnie Ross has always had an eye for trends and has been developing her own brand since her teen years. After receiving her cosmetology license in high school, she moved to Los Angeles to continue her education in makeup artistry at Make-Up Designory. She began working as a professional make-up artist in the fashion industry and developed a passion for identifying trends and curating looks. After moving back to Kansas City, Courtnie worked as a make-up artist, model, hair stylist, and entrepreneur. In her early 20’s, Courtnie founded a fashion and art magazine ā€œPleniluneā€, developed and sold her own makeup and jewelry line, and went on to complete the Beauty Industry Essentials program from the Fashion Institute of Technology. She has also worked with local Kansas City business incubator Betablox and she is currently a Mass Communications major at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and Owner/CEO of the small business, LoveStoned. Fueled by a passion for business and fashion, she founded LoveStoned to provide an affordable and ethical option for people looking to expand their wardrobe with things that’ll make them sparkle on the outside as much as they do on the inside.

Halsey called for a feminism that protects every woman.

The singer shared her vision for the movement on March 8, 2015. Halsey said ā€œWe need a feminism that is not negligent of women of color, trans women q***r women. We need a feminism that protects ALL women. Globally.ā€

Her statement brings attention to the need for real inclusion. It shows how centering women of color and other groups can strengthen the whole community and create lasting change for everyone.

IT’S OVERšŸ™ŒšŸ¼
IT’S FINALLY OVER🤩

I’ve cried so many tears this week and when I locked the door just now… I was stoic.
I’m FREE. āœŒšŸ»

This place sucked so much out of me these last few years.
Fun fact: it costs around 48k a year just to keep a storefront open.
That doesn’t include inventory, fixtures, events, or all the extra things no one sees behind the scenes.

I gave my heart and soul to this place even when I was completely broken down.
I did same-day custom orders, donated well over 20k to community organizations, gave away swag bags when I honestly didn’t have the extra money to do it, and personally delivered packages just so people would have them on time.

I went above and beyond for everyone.
The customer service was AMAZING (we’ve got the awards to prove it šŸ˜‚).
But when you make yourself too accessible, people start taking it for granted.

Someone told me last week:
ā€œI’m so sad you’re closing, you were always my last minute place to shop.ā€

And honestly? That broke my heart.
Because that’s exactly why it closed.
We were rarely the first choice… just the convenient one.

People always said:
ā€œIt’s so cute in here!ā€
ā€œI come here for outfit inspiration!ā€

But inspiration doesn’t pay the bills.

Now don’t get me wrong, there are SO many of you who supported me endlessly.
The ones who shopped small on purpose, hyped me up, shared my posts, stood in line for events, brought friends in, and genuinely believed in Sinful Southern Belles.
Y’all kept my fire lit when I was running on fumes, and I will never forget that. šŸ”„ You all know who you are, if I could tag all of you and shout y’all out I would! You will always hold a special place in my heart 🩷

I was the very first business on this street when there was nothing here.
And I wasn’t the first one to close.
Small towns don’t survive without community support, and sadly I probably won’t be the last.

Back online we gošŸ›ļøšŸ’»

And to everyone who copied the things I built — the events, the ideas, the products, just a friendly reminder:
You can copy the recipe, but the sauce will never taste the same 😘 āœŒšŸ» - KB

I’ve been a little MIA while settling into my new life in Hollywood šŸ™Œ a month of change, clarity, and realizing how different it feels to finally exist somewhere I don’t have to tone myself down. ✨
Being here made me think a lot about identity and expression, not just personally, but creatively. How the things we once called ā€œweirdā€ or ā€œtoo muchā€ actually become our strongest assets. How the unconventional becomes strategy.
So my new blog is live, and it’s one of my most personal + marketing-brain pieces yet.
It’s part reflection on embracing the beautifully strange…
part deep dive into Schiaparelli and surrealism…
and part breakdown of why weirdness is one of the most powerful branding tools we have.
When the world feels overstimulated and numb, the things that stand out emotionally such as the unexpected, the odd, and the bold, are the things that win.
If you love fashion that makes you feel, marketing that actually means something, and strategy with a soul… this one’s for you. šŸ’–āœØ
