💔 Draco’s story almost became one of heartbreak.

He was only days away from reaching 400 days in the shelter. Nearly 400 sunrises and sunsets spent behind kennel walls… watching other dogs come and go, wondering when it would finally be his turn.

Day after day, the hope in Draco’s eyes started to fade.

He was shared far and wide. Networked by so many people who believed in him. But somehow, he kept being overlooked.

Until one life-changing “yes.”

When Sioux Empire Pit Bull Rescue stepped up and said yes to Draco, everything changed.

This past weekend, a transport was coordinated to carry him from Kansas to South Dakota, like a bridge carrying him away from the loneliness of shelter life and toward the fresh start he had waited so patiently for.

And now… Draco is safe. ❤️

Safe in an incredible foster home.
Safe knowing he matters.
Safe knowing he was worth fighting for.

But his journey isn’t over yet.

Draco is still searching for the forever family he has always deserved. A home where he’ll never have to wonder if he’s been forgotten again.

After almost 400 days of waiting… let’s make sure his next chapter is the one that lasts forever.

If you’d like more information about Draco or are interested in adopting him, please contact Sioux Empire Pit Bull Rescue.

💔 Meet Buster Brown 💔

When I first met him, my heart sank. This sweet boy is painfully thin, covered in pressure sores, and has a wound around his neck that appears to have been caused by an embedded collar. We know very little about his past, but one thing is painfully clear… life has not been kind to Buster.

The good news?

His story is no longer about where he’s been.

It’s about where he’s going. ❤️

Despite everything he’s endured, Buster is incredibly friendly. He still seeks out affection. He still trusts people. He still wags his tail. Somehow, through all of the neglect and hardship, this beautiful soul has held onto hope.

I looked Buster in the eyes and made him a promise.

I promised him that his future would be brighter than his past.

I promised him that people would see him, love him, and fight for him.

And I promised him that he would never have to face the world alone again.

Tomorrow begins a new chapter for this deserving boy. Whether it’s a foster home, an adopter, or simply people willing to share his story, Buster needs a village behind him.

But right now, Buster also needs medical care.

His body has a long road to recovery ahead. He needs nutritious food, wound care, treatment for his injuries, and the time and support necessary to heal from whatever he’s been through.

If you find it in your heart, please click the donation link below and help us give Buster the care he deserves.

❤️ 100% of all donations received over the next 24 hours will go directly toward Buster Brown’s medical care and recovery. ❤️

Every dollar will help ease his pain, restore his health, and remind him that people care.

Let’s show Buster what compassion looks like.

Let’s show him that there are far more good people in this world than bad.

And let’s help write the happy ending that he deserves.

If you would like more information about Buster Brown, please contact KC Pet Project.

Please share his story, say a prayer for his recovery, and consider making a donation today.

🐾❤️ SHANDY UPDATE ❤️🐾

Because of your incredible generosity, prayers, donations, shares, and unwavering support, we are happy to report that Shandy’s recovery is moving in the right direction.

While her healing journey will be a slow one, she continues to make progress every day. Recovery from the trauma she endured cannot be rushed, but she is receiving the love, medical care, and attention she deserves from an amazing team that is committed to helping her heal both physically and emotionally.

For now, Shandy will remain under the care of the shelter’s medical team until they feel she is ready to take the next step, whether that means transitioning into a foster home or eventually finding the loving forever family she deserves.

None of this would be possible without all of you. Your compassion has given this sweet girl a chance to heal, and for that, we are deeply grateful.

If you would like to help support Shandy’s ongoing care and the many other animals receiving lifesaving treatment, please consider making a donation by clicking the link below. Every dollar makes a difference. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I would also like to give a huge shout-out to the staff and volunteers at KC Pet Project. The work you do for Shandy and every animal that comes through your doors is nothing short of extraordinary. You show up every day with compassion, dedication, and love, often behind the scenes and without recognition. Please know that your efforts are changing lives, and they do not go unnoticed.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in Shandy.

Thank you, and God bless. ❤️

I know many of you have been asking about Shandy, and I have some good news…

Tomorrow morning, I’ll be visiting her at KC Pet Project and filming an update video to share with all of you. ❤️

Over the past several days, thousands of people have followed her journey, prayed for her recovery, donated toward her care, and carried her story in their hearts. It’s been incredibly moving to witness.

What happened to Shandy is something no animal should ever have to endure. The physical and emotional wounds she carries will take time to heal, but every day she continues to show us what resilience looks like. More importantly, she’s finally surrounded by people who are fighting for her, loving her, and giving her every opportunity to heal.

I haven’t seen her since the last update, so I’m excited to spend some time with her and see how she’s progressing. Whether it’s a tail wag, a moment of trust, or simply seeing her resting comfortably, every small step forward is worth celebrating.

Thank you for continuing to stand beside this sweet girl. Tomorrow, I’ll share everything I can and let you see firsthand how your love, support, and generosity are helping change her life.

Stay tuned. I have a feeling Shandy has stolen a few more hearts since we last saw her. 🐾❤️

G R A T I T U D E ❤️

To be recognized by Kansas City Magazine as both Best Philanthropist and Best Community Activist is something I never imagined when I first started sharing stories about homeless pets and trying to make a difference in our community.

I want to sincerely thank Kansas City Magazine for this incredible honor, but even more importantly, I want to thank every single person who took the time to vote. Your support means more than I can put into words.

The truth is, these awards do not belong to me.

They belong to the shelter workers who show up every day and care for animals despite being understaffed, overwhelmed, and emotionally exhausted.

They belong to the volunteers who spend their free time walking dogs, cleaning kennels, taking photos, and giving animals hope.

They belong to the fosters who open their homes and hearts.

They belong to the adopters who take a chance on a pet who needed one.

They belong to the donors who quietly help make miracles happen.

They belong to the rescue groups, veterinarians, veterinary staff, transport teams, and advocates who dedicate their lives to helping animals in need.

And they belong to all of you who share posts, leave encouraging comments, spread awareness, and help create second chances for pets who might otherwise be forgotten.

For years, I’ve simply had the privilege of standing in front of a camera and shining a light on the incredible work being done by others. The real heroes have always been the people behind the scenes and the animals who continue to teach us about resilience, forgiveness, and unconditional love.

What makes Kansas City special is not one person. It’s our village. It’s thousands of people coming together, one act of kindness at a time, to help both people and animals.

So while my name may be on this award, I hope you know that I see it as a reflection of all of us and the amazing animal welfare community that makes this work possible.

Thank you for believing in this mission. Thank you for believing in homeless pets. And thank you for proving, year after year, that when a community comes together, extraordinary things can happen.

This award is for every one of us. ❤️🐾

💔🐾 MORRIS IS READY TO FIND HIS FOREVER FAMILY 🐾💔

Some dogs have a way of making your day brighter the moment you meet them, and Morris is one of those dogs.

At just 2 years old and 47 pounds, Morris is the perfect combination of playful, affectionate, and full of life. He greets the world with a wagging tail, a happy spirit, and a heart that is overflowing with love.

Morris loves people, loves adventure, and absolutely loves water. Whether he’s splashing around, exploring a new place, riding in the car, or simply cuddling on the couch, he’s happiest when he’s sharing life with someone he loves.

One of the things that makes Morris so special is that he isn’t just fun, he’s also incredibly well-mannered. During time away from the shelter, he proved that he’s fully house-trained and crate-trained. He’s treat-motivated, eager to learn, and always excited to spend time with his people.

But more than anything, Morris is looking for what every shelter dog dreams of: a family to call his own.

A family that will cherish his goofy personality.
A family that will laugh at his playful antics.
A family that will welcome his kisses and cuddles.
A family that will never let him wonder where he belongs again.

Morris has so much love to give, and he’s patiently waiting for someone to see the amazing dog that he is.

Please consider sharing this post. The right share could lead to the right person, and the right person could change Morris’s life forever. ❤️

Morris is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and ready to go home.

If you would like more information about Morris, please contact KC Pet Project.

🏡🐾 Let’s help Morris find the forever family he deserves.

🌈🐾 Today is World Pet Memorial Day 🐾🌈

Today, we honor the pets who may no longer walk beside us… but who never truly left our hearts. ❤️

They were never “just animals.”
They were family. Best friends. Comfort during our darkest days. Tiny souls who somehow took up enormous space in our lives.

Years may pass, but we still remember the sound of their paws, the way they greeted us at the door, and the unconditional love they gave so freely.

If you’ve ever loved and lost a pet, please take a moment today to honor them. Share their photo, say their name, tell their story. Because although they may be gone… they will never be forgotten. 🕊️🐶🐱

Drop their names and photos in the comments so we can remember them together. ❤️
