traveler from out of town was driving down a quiet country road when his car slid off the shoulder and into a deep ditch. No matter what he tried, the tires just spun deeper into the mud.

A nearby farmer happened to see the accident and offered to help. He returned a few minutes later with his powerful old draft horse, Buddy.

The farmer hitched Buddy to the stranded car and called out, "Pull, Nellie... pull!"

Buddy stood perfectly still.

The farmer tried again. "Pull, Buster... pull!"

Still nothing.

Then he shouted, "Pull, Coco... pull!"

Not a single step.

Finally, the farmer smiled and called, "Pull, Buddy... pull!"

Buddy leaned into the harness with all his strength and, in one steady pull, dragged the car out of the ditch and safely back onto the road.

The driver thanked the farmer, but his curiosity got the better of him.

"I don't understand," he said. "Why did you call your horse three different names before you finally called him Buddy?"

The farmer chuckled.

"Well, Buddy's blind. If he thinks he's the only one doing the work, he won't even try. But if he believes his friends are pulling with him, he'll give it everything he's got."

PINHEADS POSITIVITY...

Its 1777, October in Germantown, PA. Its a crisp call fall day and the battle of Germantown rages on. Washington vs Howe. As the battle drags on, a terrier appears in the colonists battle line.

Heavy smoke and noise has disoriented Lila, a fox terrier has wandered into the Americans lines. The soldiers immediately recognized Lila as British General Howes dog. The soldiers wanted to taunt the British with the dog.

Word reached Washington and he put a stop to it. Under a flag of truce, he had Lila returned to Howe with this note:

"General Washington's compliments to General Howe. He does himself the pleasure to return to him a dog which accidentally fell into his hands, and by the inscription on its collar appears to belong to General Howe.”

A strong display of gentlemanly behavior amongst enemies.
